Illustrated Norse Myths (Illustrated Story Collections)

I am a huge marvel nerd and when I saw a book that had storied about Thor and the gods of Asgard I knew I had to get it. I was not disappointed at all! The myths are super cool and I found myself reading them all the time. Although the myths don’t really relate the the MCU I still love them.

My 8-year-old nephew reads this every night.

Enthralling! Funny too. My daughters are 3 and 5. They LOVE this book. We've been reading it over and over for three weeks now. These myths are really interesting! Unlike the Greek version (which is also wonderful) the Norse myths featured seem to be more about entertainment than lesson teaching. This was boon for me as I'm always one to roll my eyes at the "moral" part of any story in children's literature since they're so rarely subtlety put. This book features sections on Loki and Thor, a bit about the beginning times, and a bit about the end times for the Norse mythology characters. They've inspired us to make our own Thor hammers and Frey swords. I wish it were longer or a series.

The stories in the middle are pretty good (all about Loki, Thor, and Giants), but the beginning and the end stories are unusually violent for little kids, and a bit too serious compared with the tone of the rest of it. I'd recommend skipping the first and last chapters.

If you want to teach your kid about the back stories of your favorite Avengers characters - Thor and Loki - then this book's for you! This book does a nice job in narrating some of the more famous stories of the Norse gods and their adversaries. There is some sense that they engage in trouble and fights for no particular reason other than getting a rise out of their enemies. You be the judge though. Compared to Usborne's Greek Myths, the Norse Myths book does not have as many illustrations. We're big fans of the Greek Myths book in my house. The Norse Myths is a wonderful addition.

There are very few Norse Myth books for kids. This one is great. Good size text, and my son ( 9 yrs old) loves learning these stories about his heritage. Highly recommend!

This is a great book, made very well too. I like the format and the materials used.

Beautiful pictures and the stories have a nice, fluid feel. We love gathering as a family to read these at night.
