In the Coen's we trust
No Country For Old Men is already essential film viewing. Pitch perfect throughout. Even the 'difficult' ending works. I was a little disappointed after seeing it in the cinema as the advertising had mis-sold it as another quirky comedy. It has it's moments but it's not a comedy. Seeing it again, with that knowledge, made it a far better experience.True Grit is great as well. Excellent performances all around. Except for Matt Damon's comedy 70s porn tash.... not sure what that's all about or how it even got past the first fitting.

Double wonderful
True Grit is a great film, much more similar to the John Wayne version than I expected (no bad thing, since I also love the JW version - just a bit of a surprise). Once again Jeff Bridges gives a peerless performance. No Country for Old Men is darker than many Coen brothers films, but no less good for that. All-in-all an excellent couple of films and amazing value for money.

Worth buying
Two excellent films. No Country is a classic and the way True Grit has been re-worked makes a nice change from the original. A worthy addition to the library.
