Dose this item as reverse treads and can it be use with a half inch impact gun?

Does this protects painted black 21.5mm lug nuts?

I wouldn't say it "protects" lug nuts from being scratched/marred/show signs of wear.. I use this due to a "luxury" American brand vehicle maker uses the cheapest-dumbest lug nuts that "swell" in less than a month resulting in the inability of using the provided lug wrench in an emergency tire change after the wheels have been rotated...the vehicles I work on have 19mm and 21mm size lug nuts...these poorly designed lug nuts swell so much that most all techs use a hammer to pound the 19mm or 21mm socket on to the lug nuts.....then!!! after tire removal and install.....reuse the same lug nuts back on to the vehicle!!! these are $50,00 - $90,000 vehicles! you think they-vehicle makers- would be aware of this situation that has been ongoing for years! so anyway....I use this socket to remove those swelling lug nuts...and it works perfect! just slightly larger than original size and just slightly smaller than "22"mm to totally strip outer edge..removes lugs perfect without "hammering" on the correct socket size and removes nicely without having to wiggle or force socket off installed lugs....now you may wonder why I use this to remove/install stripped lugs instead of replacing with new-under warranty- lug nuts.....2 reasons....new ones will swell in a matter of months-and the manufacturer seems to be "blind" to this situation and like to blame the tech for this situation! however...I understand your question and if....your lug nuts are not "swelled" and correct size...this will result in the edges showing signs of wear...
