Salomon Women's Comet 3D Lady GTX-W

I have a wide foot and narrow heel making it very difficult to find hiking boots. Although these boots are sized as medium width they have an extra roomy toe box that is super comfortable, and the two lace hooks on each side makes for a secure fit around my ankles. After my normal 5 - 10 mile hikes my feet would be aching in other high-end brand boots. And good-bye to the achy back that always seemed to developed after sitting for an hour after a hike... gone! The boots may be pricey, bit it is true that a good hike begins with the boots. And Salomon boots are the best! I will never buy another brand.

These boots are comfortable and very sturdy, but I did not keep them because I prefer a lighter weight boot. I kept the Ellipse for it's lighter weight, and they are versatile enough for most of what I do. The Comets seem to be a bit sturdier, and a well built boot which will probably last longer. It would have been my first choice if each boot were about 4 oz lighter.

These are my fifth pair of Salomons (and second pair of Comet 3D GTX). I am a size 9, but I can size down to 8.5 in these. There is plenty of toe box room, so there is no feeling of being constricted. There was no breaking-in period required for these boots, so I was able to put them on and go! They stay dry in wet conditions. Although I have a pair of custom orthotics, I do not need them as there is already great support. I agree with previous reviewers that they are not great on snow and ice, but these boots fit great in my snow shoes in the wintertime.

I have foot issues and must have Solomon's. These are my 3rd pair and I trust Salomon's to be comfortable right out of the box. Worn with my custom orthotics in place of the insoles that comes with the boots, they're perfect for my wide foot and I'm pain-free for the long haul.

I like the color (igloo blue/asphalt/chalk), but the boot doesn't fit. Seems about 1/2 size to a full size too large, and it's really big in the toe box. Try Zamberlan boots at za**os; expensive, but best boots by far. (Ama zon doesn't carry them.)

I had this pair before and jsut had to get it again. They are a great combination of a tennis shoe and hiking boot. THey are pretty tough considering that too. I live in high mountain desert, and take dogs hiking in rough country regularly. The first pair was an awesome pair, but this pair, they dont handle ice, slushy snow, packed snow well at all. but i will keep using them. they are too beat up, and too comfy to return.

Best backpacking boots ever! I got almost 2000 miles out of my last pair (still wearable but in really rough shape). Perfect if you have a narrow heel and wide forefoot. Stiff enough to provide good support but still light.

I only hike and trail run in Salomons and these do not disappoint. First time out in the woods, we went 9 miles -- no need to break them in at all. They were comfortable the entire trek. Great mid-boot!
