Now Designs Takenoko Salt Box, White

I love this this little thing! I cook from scratch a lot and I use fresh garlic all the time. I've never had a perfect way to store my garlic where it's handy. I had this keeper on my Wishlist for a couple of years and finally splurged after I received an Amazon Gift Card. It's super easy to hang on the wall and stays secure. The lid flips up easily and I can grab a clove of garlic and I knife in one motion. It's roomy enough to hold a shallot and 2-3 large cloves of garlic- which is what I usually keep on hand. The ventilation holes help keep my garlic fresh.Looks cute, easy to clean and one less thing on my countertop. Super convenient, don't wait 2 years, get it now!

Nice build quality, easy flip top to keep salt relatively clean and unadulterated by environmental dirt. The lid isn't a tight fit, but it is attractive and does the job. White color doesn't hide grime, so you know when to clean it. It has holes for hanging hardware, but mine lives on the counter next to the stove. I replaced one of the screws that the lid pivots on with a longer one to hang a small 1/8 tsp spoon on so it's always handy. Just the right size - holds about 2 cups of salt. Much better design than a traditional open salt pig.

I ordered the first one for my garlic bulbs. Loved it so much I ordered a second one for my shallots! They stack on top of each other on my counter top. I love the hinged top that I can open with one hand. I can definitely tell my garlic and shallots are staying fresher longer. Do be careful when ordering. The link also has a version that looks like little house with a chimney, which is adorable, but wouldn't be able to stack like this version.

This is a nice looking design, but it has a couple of flaws that prevent me from fully endorsing it without caveats. First is a bit pricey, at least at the time that I purchased it, and I'm not sure it is worth the price. Unfortunately, I do not know of a product that looks like this one, so there may not be good alternatives.The image provided on amazon does look like the product I received, although the gap at the top of the bamboo door and ceramic top is quite large. If you are keeping this in a well lit area, this garlic keeper is not great at keeping the garlic dark, as the gap on top is about 1/4 inch. The other thing I don't like is that the "hinge' is really just 2 screws that go into the bamboo door. The screws rotate in unfinished ceramic holes, which makes for a rough rotation. Not smooth at all, and these two issues make an otherwise nicely designed product seemed to have a poor fit/finish feel.On the positive, I do like the overall look. The holes and gaps do allow for good aeration, which maybe more important that the light/dark issue. The product is also quite roomy and holds more garlic than most of the other keepers out there. It can also be mounted to a wall, but this I have not tried. I don't regret my purchase, but was a slightly disappointed given the price.* Update - Over a year later and I am happy with the purchase. My complaints above are still valid, but I don't think they are deal breakers and don't seem to bother me as much. I am not aware of other products quite like this and the price seems to have gone down a little.

Functions very well. Looks as good as in the picture. No manufacturing flaws I could see. Comes with two screws, plus plastic inserts for screwing into drywall, and has two eyeholes in back for the screws. Holds plenty of salt, about 1-1/2 or 2 cups of kosher salt, and plenty of room for your hand to reach in and grab some. Much better than some antiques (from when salt was more expensive) that only hold a half cup. More important, you need only one hand to use it; the lid flops down by itself so you don't have to explicitly close it. A pleasure to use.

The item was as described and is a great design. Unfortunately it arrived cracked because it was packed in too small a box to protect it during shipping. The item is out of production, so I chose to repair and keep it.

I thought I'd like it but the more I use it the less I do. It doesn't come with a scoop so you have to use a measuring spoon or your fingers. It doesn't sit on top of the stove and it has to holes in the back of it that allows you to hang it if you like but then im you can't fill it. And when you try to fill it the salt comes out the two holes meant for hanging it. Cute box. Terrible design.

Cuter than I expected! I used to have some small dollar store square plastic bin thing that had garlic overflowing and it looked messy. I’m so glad I came across this. I bought it unsure of whether it will do the job. It fit a ton of smaller garlic bunches, and looks way more neat on my kitchen counter vs what I had previously. It’s so cute I ordered a 2nd one for my shallots.

This is sooooo cute. It holds about 3-4 spanish garlic (the bigger ones) which i think is more enough.

Cute design but very small. My partner can’t fit his hand in to get the salt out. Mine is a very tight fit also, and the spoon just gets in the way and makes it worse. I wouldn’t recommend to use as a salt container.

I actually saw this at a friend's place and loved it so much that I hunted it down on Amazon. It's adorable and people comment on it all the time! Of course, it's a salt cellar so it does the job just like any other, but it's definitely cuter. Get it!
