A fantastic cast iron pan
I love this pan! It is the perfect size, it cooks evenly and holds the heat. We made fajitas in it and it turned out fantastic. Also it cleaned easily. Highly recommend!

season it again for good measure
because of the nature of the iron not being completely smoothe, i think another round of seasoning is in order. tried to use it fresh after a wash and found things to be sticking. namely tortillas which should have no issues sticking due to the oils already present, but alas, they did. so i just popped it in the oven for a few hours, coated in olive oil and it's made a world of difference. even when the surface has a bit of grit to it (my other pan is smoothe to the touch, not sure which is the standard) everything is cooking off in it very well. i do tend to use this in the oven often, for quick one dish pastas or baked potatoes. i pretty much lean on cast iron for everything, stove top or oven, so i just needed a back up pan. this is a little wider than my original pan and may become the official pizza pan as a result. so far so good! if anything changed, yall will be the first to know!

Rougher texture than my other cast iron pots and pans
Running my fingers over the texture after I washed it prior to first use, I felt a sand-like texture, which is very unlike my other, older, well-used cookware (see photo). AS you can see from the coman to the right, and the soup pot above, they are both much loved and used, with a smooth bottom.I cooked up some bacon in it, and it did stick, but was easy to remove and continue cooking. Then I dropped in two fresh eggs, and unfortunately they both stuck to the pan, even when put in the area with the most bacon grease. After I flipped them, there were bits of egg stuck to the pan. (See additional photos.)I will continue to use this pan and re-season it since perhaps it wasn't sufficiently seasoned to begin with. The texture may help or hinder cooking--will report back with results after using it a few more times. It does heat up consistently, and hold heat well for good cooking.

Nice pan that's well made
I'm comparing this 10" cast iron pan to a larger one (made in the US) we've had for many years. It compares very favorably - in both appearance, finish and performance. It's a very nice little pan.I like that it's pre-seasoned (although the purist in me has some difficulty accepting that, but we'll see as we continue to use it). It's has a good solid weight, but is not too heavy. It's probably just me, but the pan was a little smaller than I expected. It's definitely 10" from edge to edge, but the actual cooking surface is more like 8 1/2". This isn't a bad thing - just something to be aware of. Another small nit (which is keeping a 5 star rating at bay) is that I find the handle just a bit short - and I do not have particularly large hands. So you'll want to be sure to use adequate protection when handling the pan to protect your fingers.I was surprised that the manufacturer suggested using the pan at only medium or low temperatures. One of the great things about a cast iron pan is the ability to get it good and hot and then be able to slide it into the oven. So I'm going to interpret their caution as "don't crank up the heat right away - let it get hot slowly" - a practice you should employ with ANY cast iron pan, IMO. Plus, while using it to brown some chicken breasts, I set the heat to medium and it worked very well, so the seller clearly knows their product.Overall, I think this is a good, stout cast iron pan (on the smaller side) offered at a competitive price.

Solid construction, cooking surface a bit rough
I love cast iron cooking. So I though I'd try the Alpine offering. It says it is already seasoned but I treated it myself using virgin olive oil for 1/2 hour at 200 degrees and then 2 hours at 350 degrees F. Came out great. The only issue I have is the cooking surface has a rough finish that has caused some issues with foods like eggs and pancakes. The spatula tends to cut through the bottom of the food because it is not all on one even surface. The issue has been getting better the more use the pan has, but I think a better tolerance to the bottom finish would make this a 5 star pan. Oh and BTW although offered as a 10 inch pan, the actual cooking surface is about 8 1/2 inches which is about 1/2 inch more then competitive 10" pans. Just FYI. The price is very competitive at $21.99 (as of this review) so I can recommend.

Decent cast iron pan
This is a pretty decent cast iron pan. It does come pre-seasoned, but like most cast iron pans, it could use your special touch with another round or two.It appears to be well made and seems to be a good value for money. If well taken care of, this could easily last you years and years.

Big and heavy duty!
I grew up with food cooked on cast iron skillets, so this item is like a trip down memory lane. It is a very good size with deep walls. I like that there is an assist handle opposite of the main handle. With that being said, the main handle is a little on the small size. I also don’t like the roughness of the pan, but that will wear down in time.WARNINGS: At the time of this review, there were some incorrect statements in the listing. First, this pan may have been slightly pre-seasoned, but it really really needs a full seasoning prior to use. Additionally, cast iron should NEVER be washed with soap and water, and it should never be placed in the dishwasher.
