Good Start/Intro to the Series
I was introduced to this series via the anime, which I enjoyed very much and decided to purchase to show my support for the series and the author. I also decided to purchase this light novel and enjoyed it as well. The first book in the series provides an introduction to the characters and the world that the series takes place in, covering the first 3 episodes of the show. It complimented the anime very well by providing some additional details that are left out of the anime and allowing the reader to get inside the head of the MC, Bell. Two negative items that I would like to mention are the monster sounds and the overall quality of writing. First, the author insists on writing sounds (grunts, yells, etc.) for the monsters in the dungeon. It's pretty terrible. Things like 'gerraaahhhh!!!!' Every time I read one it takes me out of the story because I have no idea what the sound is supposed to be. The other item is that the writing is slightly amateurish. As long as you aren't expecting the type of writing that you will get from an experienced author, it shouldn't bother you too much. Overall, I enjoyed the novel enough that I purchased the second book in the series. If you are a big fan of the anime (like I am), you should definitely consider purchasing this. Thanks for your time.

Great story.
The story of Bell Cranel and his quest to go into the dungeon, defeat monsters, and, of course, pick up girls. The series is great, and after watching the Anime a few years back, I noticed it was still popular as so many of the r/LightNovel subscribers on Reddit have several volumes in their posts of light novel collections. I'm working on building mine! LOLThe story had me on the edge of my seat as it covered, IIRC the first, and maybe second, episode of the anime series. Still, getting into the minds of the characters is a big help. The only problem I found in my copy is that, after 6 years of publishing the English Translation, Yen Press has yet to correct several spelling/grammatical errors in the book. A good example was on page 102, on the fourth line: "Invitations to the Celebration had been disturbed by the host's Familia." Disturbed? I believe the correct word here is Distributed. This isn't the only error that slipped past the proofreader, but it, AHEM, Disturbed me enough that I remembered this particular line, having reread it several times to make sure I understood it. Fortunately, I only found less than a handful of these errors, but it can ruin a good reading rhythm as you go back to try to make sense of the previous line.

Danmachi is the best!
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is a light novel by Fujino Omori. This light novel is one of the reasons why I love reading this type of genre. It provides the science fiction, fantasy, and magic in every chapter. I love the aspect how the author incorporated a game like system into his novel. It is one of the reasons I read this type of genre like Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, and Overlord. The character development is intriguing as well, you notice the main character as this weak feeble man and develops more and more into a strong adventurer as his skills and confidence is boosted. I first saw this anime and had so many questions about the tower, the skills, and leveling up. The light novel sure answered all the questions I had. If you are into fantasy, magic, and sci-fi I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the light novel!

Writing skills were a bit subpar but the story and world were great
My interest in this story came after I watched season 1 and 2 of the anime. I could tell the anime just couldn't tell every thing this fantasy world had to offer, but what it managed to show caught my eye! I did enjoy the this light novel but there were some issue in this book that kept pulling out of the story. Most importantly the dialogue was poorly written. Half the time I felt like I was just guessing at who was talking and using the anime to support my guess lol... I don't think there was a single like of dialogue labeled with a "blank person said." Or anything even when there was a new person butting into a conversation and you wouldnt find out who the hell joined the conversation until like 4 lines later. The author ability to describe things was also a bit lacking. Examples of this was the way he wrote sounds. Anothe example is when he describes Freya he expresses her exceptional beauty pretty much by writing a paragraph saying she was beautiful over and over again. All and all if this author I'm proves he writing as the books progress, I confident I'll be a happy camper, because at the end of the day I did enjoy this book and the anime was great.

Interesting read that elaborates and explains missing details in the anime. Fun easy read
I bought this after finishing the first season because I thought the anime was pretty good. I read a lot of novels and manga but this was my first light novel. I was confused by a lot of the details in the anime, and this light novel elaborated on the details and circumstances I found confusing so I was really happy about that. It has some really good world building and it’s a fun easy read. I finished it in about 2-3 days and plan on buying the 2nd. Some moments are hard to follow such as when there’s a lot of dialogue, I had to re read a few paragraphs to figure out who’s dialogue was who’s but it wasn’t a big deal. I’d Recommend for anyone who liked the anime, the anime is good but this light novel is better.

A fun read, light novels are pretty cool.
Good so far, two thirds of the way through. I watched the anime and decided to get the light novel (been doing this recently also for Konosuba and RE:Zero). Its a fun read and as someone who enjoys fantasy and role playing games I think its pretty cool. I'm not a huge reader, though I sort of wish I was. I've read Jurassic Park, loved Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, and the Harry Potters. Light novels are a nice change and its easy to read and put down and pick back up moments later. Clearly I'm an amateur reader xD Still I highly recommend this.

Okay, so the title can be a bit of a put off...
If taken in the wrong context or if you are not used to thinking in a more wholesome mindset. Alas my mind went straight to the gutter after seeing the title, preventing me from reading this wonderful light novel. After watching the Anime, wow, what a great story! I had to go buy this book. Please give it a try. It doesn't disappoint. :)

A great read, I purchased this light novel after watching ...
A great read, I purchased this light novel after watching the recent anime adaptation and loving it. The anime followed the book perfectly however the book contains extra little details regarding character development. I would highly recommend reading this if you are a fan of anime like SAO.

light hearted read
A light hearted and funny take on the classic fantasy genre. The novel paints the picture of a bustling chaotic life for Bell (the main character) and his goddess. Characters are vivid and there relationships are touching as well as volition. All Bell wants to be is a hero but darker forces are at work. A great start to the series that promises a lot deeper story lines to come.We all have dreams to chase, it's a case of who catches theirs first.

Is it wrong to try and pick up girls in a dungeon? After further review: No I was not wrong
If you love the concept of video RPGs being real life and also love harem/comedies, then this is the book for you.In a world of gods and monsters level one newbie Bell Cranell is trying to conquer the labyrinth, and meet girls to form a harem, because as his grandad put it "- Real men try to make a harem!" and "The hero's greatest taste of glory is not from slaying monsters; it's meeting the girls".Can't wait for the second book =)
