This is the new, upgraded, fuel filter for the '14-'18 (maybe '19) Ram EcoDiesel. It may fit other applications as well (but certainly not the Jeep EcoDiesels through '18). It is what I use on my '16 Ram EcoDiesel. I find them them to be 2X as hard to push on to the filter housing tube compared to the original (see below). Compared to the original design, it is supposed to better resist crushing under pressure and leakage around the end seals. However, you should follow the same precautions as with the original: Don't put the new filter into the bowl - carefully slide the filter on to the housing tube and then screw on the bowl. Don't expect the filter to last 30000 miles if you run dirty fuel in your truck, and drain the bowl regularly if you can't eliminate water contamination issues with the fuel you run in your truck. The Mopar filters are overpriced no matter where you buy them. However, I don't know of another filter with an equally good water separator. In my opinion, $100 - $200 over the life of the truck is cheap insurance against a potential high pressure pump failure. If you are changing the filter yourself, consider investing in the proper filter wrench, a ratchet/extension and gallon zip-lock bags.

Used an adjustable oil filter wrench to loosen the filter cap until it could be turned somewhat by hand. Then put a one gallon freezer bag over the filter and unscrewed the cap. Several ounces of fuel and the filter cap fell into the bag. Then put on the new o-ring supplied with the filter, snapped the new filter into the filter cap and hand tightened it on the filter module. Snugged it up with the oil filter wrench as specs are 19 ft lb -- take it easy. Prime fuel into the module by turning on the ignition without starting for about 20 seconds until you hear the filter pump whine pitch reduce. Good to go! It's easier to approach the filter from the rear of the truck. Jack stands are recommended for safety. Using a large piece of cardboard or other material, slide up the driver side from the rear until you see the filter just north of the rear axle. It will have a yellow drain plug with cross-hair for Phillips driver. No need to unscrew the drain plug, just unscrew the filter cap.

Just installed this Mopar diesel fuel filter on my 2016 Ram EcoDiesel ($32.10). This newer design is an important improvement over the former OEM filter which could be fitted incorrectly causing seal failure. The new one (Mopar 68235275AA) has a nylon containment cage around the filter that prevents bloating and also has nylon guides which assure that the cartridge clicks into the housing and spins with perfect alignment onto the threaded base. I used the "click it into the housing first" installation method. Some YouTubers out there claim you should install the cartridge onto the threaded pipe before screwing the housing in. I examined the cartridge and the Mopar box it came in and could not see anything that would indicate it was a knockoff.

Perfect fit on 2016 RAM 1500 Limited Ecodiesel

To install on a 2017 Ram 1500 ecodiesel, buy the special wrench. Then, find your filter above the drive shaft in front of the spare tire. Using the wrench, unscrew the filter cap about 3 turns or until you think you can finish it by hand. Then, put the wrench away and grab a one gallon zip lock bag. Then, cover the filter assembly with the bag and unscrew it by hand, keeping the bag over the filter. Eventually, it will loosen enough that fuel will fall into the bag. About 1 quart will fall into the bag. Once the cap is fully unscrewed, carefully pull everything straight down. The filter will pull off a tube protruding down the middle of the filter. Pull it all off, zip the bag, slide out of the car, and the rest will be obvious. After you install the new one, turn the car to "run" for 60 seconds before starting it up to prime the fuel system. This is a 10 min job requiring only the special wrench and a wratchet attached to it. The filter itself was perfect.

Factory part, so it just works like it should. Fuel system repairs aren’t heap, don’t skimp on filters.

The product came in a beat up box and with others saying that it was replaced with a cheap Chinese knock off’s I decided to buy one from the Dodge dealer to compare. They’re identical and cheaper than the dealer. Shipping was fast I’m using this on my 2016 Ram eco diesel

Filter was a little slow arriving but otherwise just as expected. Not a single layer paper filter media like the cheaper advertised replacement fuel filter. This is the genuine OEM fuel filter spec'd by Ram for the 3.0 L Eco Diesel.
