HLC Vintage Genuine Leather Laptop Briefcase Messenger Satchel Bag

Rugged, good looking, good quality.This just showed up today and when I opened it, I was impressed. The construction is good, a tad on the rough side, but that's what I was looking for, a rugged look. I have a mac powerbook 15.4. It barely fits, but it fits. 2 zippered compartments for goodies, 4 exterior pockets with flaps, 3 generous compartments on the interior wil a green canvas liner. The middle compartment is padded, but it is on the wide side - this is the only thing that I think could have been thought out a little better, but it works fine.I would put this up against most bags that cost more than double the $89 that I paid on Amazon.I oiled the leather and it looks great. No complaints at all.No, it's not the quality of an Orvis bag that costs more than $500, just being realistic, i don't expect that. But it is a solid bag that looks like it will last a good long while and it looks very cool.

Great item. Well made and isn't flimsy. It looks and feels really good. All the buckles and zippers are heavy duty. I'll be using this bag for quite some time. I will have to say though, it does have a very unique smell to it for about the first 10 or 12 weeks. The smell is completely gone now but I wouldn't plan on getting this bag out and taking it to work the next day....no amount of cologne will hid this bags smell. Give it some time to air out, like I did and it has become my go to bag for meetings and travel.

I've been using this bag for a little over a year. When it first arrived it was littered with strings and bits of fabric from the fabric liner (not damage, just leftover scrap from manufacturing) as well as a ton of loose/uncut ends of string. The leather pieces were sewn together with little concern for aesthetics, with noticeable mismatches in shades of color between them. The handle is partcularly disappointing as it is just a flat strap with another mismatched piece of leather sloppily stitched over it.The worst quality of the item, and the reason for my low rating, is the smell. As others have stated, it has a very loud and very offputting odor that just won't die! Knowing goat leather has a louder odor, I was prepared for a extra aroma, but this was incredible. I immediately put it in a paper lawn bag with several pounds of charcoal and sealed it for a week. When I opened it, nothing changed. I tried leaving it outside and rubbing it down with baking soda. One of these things helped a little, but not much. I finally gave in and tried to seal the odor away by slathering it down with mink oil, which I knew would sacrifice the vintage leather look by turning it a much darker color. Either that or the time lapse helped with the smell, but a year later, it's still noticeable when handling it.All that said, it's held up and served me well for the past year. Despite my critical eye, it's also received several compliments... from a distance.When I purchased it, I had fairly low expectations due to the price and reviews, and didn't want to spend more as I wasn't sure if I could adjust to using a handheld bag rather than a backpack for my laptop, but due to the smell, this purchase fell short. Though I'm still using it while looking for a replacement, I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Only got it out of the package two days ago, and am getting lots of compliments on it. It is big enough to hold what I need (my MacBook Pro fits in the center compartment...room on the sides, tight on the ends). It is stiff, but should soften over time. Had a very nice "distressed" look that I like a lot. It carries all my cables in the various pockets (I am still trying to figure out how to use my Grid-it, but at present my doctoral research is taking up extra room). I would have liked the side pockets a little deeper to hold my extra glasses, but they are deep enough for other things. Seems to be sewn well, and the canvas interior appears to be well made.My only complaint (and it is minor) is the shoulder strap. The leather strap to keep the tail piece in place is way too loose to do any good. Since I won't be constantly adjusting the shoulder strap, here is my solution - order a screw post (you can find them on Amazon - I like the ones from Tandy Leather) and use that to go through and hold down the tail piece. Please note - you will have to put a hole in the shoulder strap, and once you do that, it is not as simple to adjust the strap (not impossible - just not simple).Since some people had complained about the smell, I did have some hesitations, but I didn't notice any smell opening the sealed bag, and I still don't (then again, I think saddles smell pretty good...so take it for what it is worth).I like this bag a lot. I don't buy briefcases very often (my last one was 2002) so I expect this to last a long time. It is a good value. I would buy this for a gift anytime.

Very strong and well made. A great buy. The strap is a little clumsy though but other than that it’s great.

Does not look like it does in photos, photos look much glossier and lighter brown, this bag is dark brown and also no Real Leather Tags?Quality is just about average for the price and there is no back zip pocket as in photos.After using it for only 2 weeks with only 3/4 books in it the metal clasp on the shoulder straps broke while I was walking and bag made a loud thud on the floor!

Received today. Disappointed with purchase. I feel that it has been stored in a damp place as there were white marks on the leather and the buckles have white matter on and will take some cleaning. A stud is off one of the side pockets and the shoulder strap has a split in the side.The main leather strap is also not stiched on correctly. Several loose ends on the stitching. Will need a waxing to liven up. Very close at the moment to returning.Could not recommend to a potential purchaser

The bag does not look or feel like the one in the picture. The leather feels cheap and is much darker then the shade in the picture. However, what is more annoying there is a small tear in one of the side pockets. A reflection of poor quality control / inspection. Overall I'm not satisfied with the bag considering the price I've paid for it. Not value for money and therefore, not recommended.

Received item and was initially impressed. It does look good, but the manufacturing quality is shocking. After six months following items on bag are broken; both connectors on the shoulder strap connecting to the bag and the carry handle. Therefore making the bag unusable. In addition, stitching which was poor with a lot of loose threads to begin with, has deteriorated with use and front internal zip compartment has become completely torn away. I cannot recommend this product.
