Excellent beginners' learning drums
Initially, I wanted to return this, but felt Amazon deserves a second chance, so practiced with it, and changed my mind. Have experience with Simmons SDMK1 pad, which costs over three times as much, without speakers. This is a terrific drum learning product, and at a bargain price. If beginning, I would choose this over any other pad. It is a for-fun or learning tool, less so than a performer's tool. First, the downside, and it is a major one. The rubber pads aren't that sensitive for about ½" from their edge. This means that, one has to strike harder near the edge or one has to be accurate. And, there is no soft hit, because the strike needs to pass a threshold. It's actually quite a problem. For the beginner though, this may be an advantage, because it encourages accurate, forceful strike placement and increased force. Otherwise, it's a great, complete product: . Sounds very good; my Simmons sounds better, but costs significantly more. . Can be played with hands as well, and this actually worked well after some practice. . Learnings can be transferred to real drums. . Portable, including use with batteries. For example, can be played on camping trips. . Has accompaniment music without drum portion that's great for learning how to play in harmony. A serious drummer probably won't like this product, because of the above mentioned pads' sides issues and because it isn't fast. But, if you're wanting to learn drums to accompany others' music, the speed issue is lesser important. So, I have to give it a 5 star--because, for the beginner and for the bargain price, it is an excellent tool.

Good for practice
This is a great practice tool for anyone who is learning how to drum or want to drum on the go. However there are a number of things that can make this limiting to those two uses. Firstly, if you wan to bring it to a practice, it's not very loud, at all. The sound quality while not awful, isn't great coming out of these tiny speakers. A couple of mechanical problems too, you have to hit the pad pretty hard for it to register, so sometimes if you hit it too soft it wont even show up. Other members have pointed out that the edge of the pad does not registered hits either and that is a problem I've also encountered. The pedals are hard to use as well, a lot of times one press registers as two, so using the pedals for a fast beat is impossible without it fudging up. All and all, this is still a really good learning tool for people trying or learning drums, to see if they want to move to bigger things later.

Nice pad overall (with realistic drum sounds), but amazon screwed me!
Ok so I just got this, and I have to say that I was slightly disappointed in amazon from the moment I opened the box. First off, the box was obviously worn down, and it was obvious this product had been opened and used before. Amazon sent me a refurbished product. Let's just say that if that was something I wanted, I would have purchased this product used on craigslist or have gone to ebay and have gotten it for like $40. It's horrible that amazon pulled this with such a large/bulky product, since now it is going to be a huge headache for me to ship this back. With that said, I tried to give it a chance since I didn't want to return it, but the set has two major problems: 1. The headphone jack makes a weird static sound on and off when there is silence and I'm not hitting any of the drums (I tried adjusting the cord, ensured that the jack was plugged in all the way, etc.) 2. The drum that is located on the bottom/middle part of the pad doesn't work the majority of the time that I hit it. This is the first time amazon has sent me a refurbished product that was obviously defective. It seems like the customer who had this set before may have experienced similar problems with the pad, probably didn't notify amazon about the issues, and amazon dumped it off on another customer hoping that they wouldn't return it. :/ Good news is, the pad itself for the most part is pretty awesome. The sounds are pretty nice and realistic..and overall I can see how this would be a great starter tool for learning how to play the drums (or continuing to practice/stay sharp with your skills).

excellent practice pad...
i got what i payed for. works really good. not very loud, and you can't just hook it up to your computer to amplify it like they say, the instructions don't tell you anything about how to get it to amplify through computer, and the default hi hat pad is the one in the center which makes it a lil awkward seeing that the hi hat is usually off to the left of your snare..usually..not really a lot of recorded songs that i play along too on it.. a dozen or so....so other than it being not very loud, worth the money...

Pays the price
A cheap and simple equipament. Ideal to who wants to learn and doesn't have space or money to something better. Actually it delivers what promises. All pieces were working and sounding good with a lot of utilities and options. I recommend. I found for now only one problem. Sometimes the pedal sounds twice when pressed down.

good product
We bought this for our 3 yr old grandson who drums on EVERYTHING. He really enjoys using it. Its instrucation booklet is extensive. Obviously made for serious adult drummers. There is one part of a program that has a voice which creeps me out. I think the company can certainly find a voice-over that is al least normal. Other than those 2 things, its a great product and I would recommend this for any child who has a drive to drum ! Priced right too !

DO NOT Order!
This was the first drum pad I ordered, and it arrived in bad condition. It appeared used, headset was ripped, box damaged, and it sounded like there was feedback static playing through. Very disappointing! I ordered a replacement because this was off a friends wishlist (for their birthday), and this second one is in even WORSE shape! I will never order from this company again.

This is a lower end product but is a great secondary kit for my son to experiment with. I would not suggest it as a primary drum kit but fun as an extra...and quieter!
