The scar is located on my palm. Is it waterproof or would I have to re-apply every time I wash my hands?

The product is used on a damaged lip & does not dry out. A thin layer is always present. As you can imagine, being on a lip there is some waterproof element to the product. The drawback in your situation, would be leaving residue on everything your palm touches.
