Very good boots!
As the title says: these are nice boots!I only really buy good kit, as such a lot of my kit is old and has lasted me years. Other than these I have two pairs of walking boots, some ancient very stiff full bore, hardcore, mountain boots and some wrecked super slouchy la sportivas for everything else. I needed to replace the Sportiva's for everyday walking but also wanted somthing less severe and more comfortable for moutain walking. I'm unlikely to winter climb in mountains but wanted somthing that could take walking carmpons for winter. I looked and researched A Lot!.. Full kit geek mode for a couple of weeks! !.. And settled on a pair of these. I had heard that sizing could be an issue and some people had said they need to size up 0.5 of a UK size, so I measured my feet carefully and ordered a UK9.5 based on the Mammut sizing guide measurements (I'm usually a uk9), so they do come up small on the advertised size, but are spot on the measurement in mm that Mammot advertises... If that makes sense... So my advise would be, check the Mammot size chart and measure your feet.Out of the box they look the business! Everything about them screams quality, the rubber surround was a must have for me as I'm fairly heavy on boots and tend to nick and gouge leather around the toes and sides. This aspect of the boot is really solidly constructed. All the lacing eyes look really solidly made, everything just looks decent. My one reservation on ordering are the fabric inserts around the tounge. I walk on the moors a bit and live in very muddy wet countryside, I need boots to be waterproof when water comes up over the top of the laces. A solid leather upper like the equivalent Altbergs or my heavy old mountain boots, provide this but I find that sometimes having a lot of leather folded over the top of my foot can get uncomfortable, I can't speak for the Altbergs which look beautiful, but that's my experience of my older heavy leather boots. My sportivas have fabric panels between soft leather with gortex, and they have been pretty good, only leaking a bit in their later years. Anyway, back to the Mammuts: so time will tell on the waterproofing front. So, they look amazing! First fitting: felt fairly stiff but very supported and very comfortable. The stiffness is mostly just the new leather and materials that will break in. The sole is walking crampon compatable, so pretty stiff but not completely. The lacing zones allow me to accodate my slightly wierd feet nicely. I have lean feet that are fairly skinny, but some how spread out quite wide around my toes. The Mammuts felt quite snug around the wide part of my feet, so I can leave the lower section of lacing fairly loose, but then tighten up the zone across the top of my ankle around around my ankle to prevent any heal slip that might come from otherwise loose laces. I knew within 10minites that I wasn't sending them back, so I wore them around the house for a couple of hours them went for a muddy footpath/fields walk for a few miles with the dog. Waterproofing was fine when stood with submerged feet, with the leather wet and just a few miles of walking I could already feel them soften up a bit and bed into the shape of my feet. I waxed them later on in the day which darkens the boots that some people might not like. But I don't really care about that sort of thing, it helps the leather condition and break in and obviously it good for many reasons in the long run. Comfort wise, they're spot on. Snug, supportive with zero heal lift and no indication that anything is going to rub or create problems. I'll do a longer moorland walk at the weekend and will edit this if I feel differently.Overall I can't see these boots not lasting or causing any discomfort. Mammut are a decent brand that have been around a while and they wouldn't sell crap, and these boots seem to be everything I was looking for. Time will tell, but so far 10 out of 10.Edit: I've had these for a few weeks now, I've probably walked 70+km in them, all very wet and muddy, some snow a pretty cold moorland stuff, some scrambling on rocky stuff.. As above: I absolutely love these boots! Warm, dry and all things nice 😁

Best boots I’ve ever owned!!
These boots are superb. Straight out the box and the comfort was amazing. Walked ten miles immediately. I loved them so much I bought a second pair.

Awkward to walk in
I’ve been using mammoth/Raichle boots for over 20 years as the last suits my foot shape. Never had a problem before. However the sole on these boots is very unusual. I felt as though I was walking on the balls of my feet without my toes being involved. A very strange sensation. It felt as though I was going to tip forward when I walked. After a few walks the balls of my feet started to hurt. No longer using these boots and have bought a pair of Meindl comfort fit.

Great boots but taking a while to break in
I bought these as I've owned a pair of Mammut Crest GTX (the predecessor) for 15 years and the soles have finally fallen off. It's great to just be able to replace them with what is effectively like for like and the sizing has stayed the same. However, one small gripe is that the Crest GTX seemed to have more foam in the geel that moulds to your ankle than the newer Trovat does. One of the amazing things about the Crest was that they moulded to your feet. I've literally worn the soles off them and never once had an issue with my feet hurting or rubbing.

Better than expected.
This is the second pair of these boots that I have bought. The first pair have a soft leather cuff. The illustration for the recent purchase showed a mesh cuff. However, as received, the new boots have the much more robust (and preferable) soft leather cuff.

Utterly Disappointing - DO NOT BUY
After about two months of use, one of the soles cracked. After contacting the supplier, an offer was made to send them back and after 28 days they would send back their report. As the boots were for walking, 28 days plus time to be delivered, hopefully fixed, and then returned was unacceptable. If an expensive item does not meet the standards expected after less than eight weeks, there should be no fuss about an instant replacement, not even a repair. All that was offered was a repair if THEY felt the boots had been cared for! Nonsense. This screamed of we don't really care and will make it as difficult as possible thus deter you from furthering the complaint. They were taken to a cobbler who attempted a repair but this did not hold for long. So, an almost £200 pair of boots discarded.
