Bird, Bee & Bug Houses: Simple Projects for Your Garden

It was not what I expected - great for someone who is into simple woodworking. It looks like fun !

If you love small building projects and the outdoor creatures, then this is a fun book to own. The projects are well illustrated and the instructions are easy to follow.

I checked this book out of library first and loved it. well planned and I had to have it. I could not copy the plans for the cost of the book.

Clear creative instructions and great ideas. Liked this so much, we bought another one for our son. Great way to have more beneficial bugs in your garden.

this book spent more time with using shop tools then the house designs. I wished more on Bee Houses and there was very little on this. this book will get a crafter's head spinning with ideas.

The previous reviewer obviously wanted a totally different book and this did not fit her needs. This book is beautifully illustrated, contains plans and construction directions, shows how and where to mount your finished projects and what they will attract. From the cover to the back notes, it offers everything you need to attract birds, bats and bees to your property. Yes you can get the same info on the internet but the internet sometimes is unavailable or inaccessible when you live out in the country.

Very basic information with very little "facts" that one should know to attract bees and bugs. I anticipated more details and pointers for successful recruitment, but little was offered. There's alot more information available for free on the internet.

I have made the robin and sparrow bird houses so far and I found the instructions easy to follow. I have been inspired to buy hole saws and add to my toolkit so that I can make the lovely houses. I felt quite up to these projects and it was rather like being back at school in technical class. I like the fact that the sizes of opening to the houses are verified as being correct for the various bird species. The author goes into lots of details about where adjustments can be made if you have different materials to hand and what is crucial vs. where there is wiggle room with measurements. I'm going to keep working through the projects and it has been a very satisfying way to make use of offcuts of wood. This would make a lovely gift to someone who likes to potter about in the shed as even if you have the ability to design these yourself I do think it would take a bit of time to measure up and find out what is correct for various species so it is easier just to have all that work done already in this book.

Only got this at Christmas so I've not used it yet, but I know I'll get exactly what I want from it!! It was bought to help me develop a hobby and give me the woodwork skills needed to set up a small enterprise. Definitely not disappointed!!The book is well planned out and split into 5 sections: Getting started, Bee Houses, Bird Houses, Bug Houses and Bat Houses. Photos are good quality. The ideas are realistic and don't require many tools. All tools are easy found at the DIY store.I love the way it's laid out and the amount of info given is excellent!! I'm particularly pleased to see that it covers health and safety, how to protect wildlife too and uses RSPB guidelines ie using the correct size holes depending on the bird and discussing what products can be used to finish a box.It describes each tool and it's job and the designs are ones I want to make. They aren't fussy and elaborate but instead perfect for the first - timer. It's exactly what I wanted and can highly recommend it to others who have the creative urge and wish to attract nature to their garden.... or more!

Charming book coloured illustrations, all the info is there bat box, bird boxes, insect hotels. Size, materials to use, hole sizes all given, where to place boxes and more. Tools to use the advice on using tools is sound good advice. Enjoyed reading it can't wait to get building. Arrived from fearless publications fast and looks like new condition thank you FP.Update decided to make the Bubble bee box the sizes were all wrong, like the sizes were guessed. Have to Google now to check the holes sizes are correct. Sadly a waste of time and money, ok if you just what a light read.

My son of 9 was interested in building a bee house so I saw this book on amazon and took it from there. I have literally no DIY skills so as of yet, I haven't built the bird house as you need things like mitre joint saws and a few things that I don't have in the shed. Some of them are pretty complicated in my opinion but I can imagine that if I put my mind to it that I could do a fee of the projects with my son. Maybe next summer!

Arrived on time and as expected. Looking forward to starting my first project from the book. Seems easy to follow instructions.
