Follow Follow: A Book of Reverso Poems

If I could talk to this author, I'd love to ask her....how do you have to think in order to write poetry like this? Author Marilyn Singer has created a new form of poetry which she calls reverso poems...and for good reason. You can read these poems from both up and down directions, and each reading of the poem provides a different meaning or perspective. I don't know how she does it, but it makes for some fascinating reading....even for the grandma who bought the book for her granddaughter. Follow, Follow and the first book Mirror, Mirror are enchanting. The poetry in Follow, Follow has fairy tale characters telling their side of the story. I showed my seven year old granddaughter how two poems were made from one. I told her I'd read one and then she can read the other. After the first one, she wanted to read them both on her own...she was hooked! The artwork is engaging and the poetry very clever indeed. I recommend these to anyone who wants to encourage a love of poetry in their young children.

I like the concept of this book and the illustrations are very well done, but definitely for older kids if not teenagers. I also found some of the poems to be difficult to read, which is good because you have to think about what is written, but not so good if you are reading it to a younger child with a limited vocabulary. Will definitely read it with my daughter when she is older.

I have never seen poems written this way before, but the format is very unique and interesting. I image it takes a long time to get this just right before it can be reversed and make since from the opposite point of view. I want to use this with my high school students as a writing assignment the next time we delve into poetry because it will also highlight how important word choice is in writing effectively. Bravo Marilyn for developing something so fun and unique.

I heard about this book on NPR and was intrigued. I am a high school librarian and ordered it for use by teachers to show how words (and punctuation!) can be manipulated even within strict limits to change meaning. Using the same words to illustrate 2 different points of view within a fairy tale was brilliant! Teachers were excited and I will be ordering several other copies for classrooms.

Reverso poetry is a great new poetic format that is fantastic to read and to use in a classroom. As a teacher, I use the poems to show point-of-view, the tricks of grammar and writing mechanics, and just plain fun! The illustrations are as fascinating as the poems they accompany. Marilyn Singer's poetry is fabulous, and this is just another fantastic poetry book for all to enjoy.

A great book. I do like "Mirror Mirror" better, but this one keeps in the same trend and has some really clever poems. Great structure and study on poetic form.These make PERFECT read alouds. I highly recommend this one for teachers and librarians for grades K-8 to use to teach students to identify voice and tone in poetry. It won't disappoint.

This book is the sequel to Marilyn Singer's Mirror Mirror book of the same style.Reverso Poems are genius and so adorable. One half of the book are the fairy tales you know, the other half is the opposite view you never pictured before.A must-buy for literature, language, fairy tales and poetry lovers out there! Absolutely wonderful! :)

It must've take forever for this author to come up with these reverse poems. They are the coolest thing I've read in a while. She must just be a genius.

Follow Follow: A Book of Reverso Poems is one of my most frequently recommended poetry books for young ones. I love sharing poetry with children. Great poetry is a simple way to introduce rich, beautiful, language to our children. Follow Follow is a unique choice as each poem contained within is presented forward and then backward...the same exact words, two entirely different poems! I also highly recommend Singer's previous collection, Mirror Mirror: A Book of Reverso Poems.

Great book for teaching perspective to even the youngest student. Illustrations are beautiful! Kids love the fairy tale characters. A teacher must!
