I took this in hopes for energy and as a bonus an increase in drive. It definitely helped on both accounts. However, I began having chest pains, and occasionally in my jaw and arm. I suddenly had high blood pressure. I stopped it for a few days and I did not have the pains. I tried it again and had the chest pain again and shortness of breath as well. Turns out it acts as an MAOI and I had not idea. Unfortunately, I have been taking St. John's Wort for years and I suppose the two aren't good together. :( I have not taken the Maca root since and my blood pressure is low again and I have had no more chest pains or scares. I just miss the drive and energy...but it's safer for me not to take this.

I have been taking Maca for several years due to that unwanted life event that happens to every woman on the face of this earth to help with the uncomfortable changes I was going through. And I was doing okay on them but I am the type to research EVERYTHING in the hopes of finding something better. In my search I found these with black pepper and a rainbow colored of roots. The reviews were so positive I thought why not give them a try.First of all the capsules themselves are a bit larger than what I was used to but still swallow-able. There really isn’t much of a smell or taste to them, at least what I could sense. I also noticed I was experiencing a much deeper, harder sleep which I am normally an extremely light sleeper. So that was a positive.Now the negatives, which I personally experienced while taking these; as a woman, moisture is very important to the balance of my health and intimate well being. These were causing my body to go through a dry spell which was not at all pleasant. The worst experience I had was I quickly gained almost 10 lbs, which was not a wanted side effect I was interested in. I had read some of the positive reviews where some people were looking for weight gaining. If that’s what your looking for then these are for you. I went from 131 to 139 in less than a month but my eating habit was unchanged.I am glad they work for others but these are not for me.
