Thanks for your question. It is not removable and we did that on purpose to make it more resistant.

Yes you can combine two of them and the losses would not outweigh the benefit. They need to be in exact phase or you will introduce additional directivity in the pattern. IIRC you will want to use two equal length cables of 75 ohm into a combiner with a 50ohm feedline to your receiver. That will co-phase them. Worth reading about beamforming, phasing, and combining. The ARRL antenna handbook has a good write up.
