Yogasleep Whish

I’ve tested four white noise machines, from budget Homedic models right up to pricey Sound Oasis Machines. Long story short, this is the best one and superior to the others. Here’s why: - 16 different sounds that can be Instantaneously selected ( instead of cycled through with one button like it’s competitors.) - A very impressive, loud and *bassy* speaker ( for its size) ( competitors are tinny and even facing AWAY from the user!) - Does not move when buttons are pressed and a low centre of gravity to prevent it toppling ( unlike a competitor Which slid off my table and scratched itself) - High quality genuinely relaxing tracks with a ‘warmth‘ to them. - Very well made and sturdy - The packaging is very nice and attractive and would make a superb gift being very well presented, suitable for all age ranges but especially younger people perhaps. - The unit itself has a calming aesthetic unlike some of its competitors. The only downsides that I can see are: 1. I think that there are too many of the ‘fan’ type sounds but I understand this as this is Marpacs brand heritage and it has to simulate several other of the brands Historic devices. However they do work. I would prefer a couple more nature sounds such a rustling trees to relax with, however the included nature sounds are superb. I would not hesitate to recommend this product. It’s the best available.

We got this to help a non-sleeping baby nod off. After a little bit of research we found that Marpac are the original manufacturers of the white noise machines. We opted for this because it has more organic sounds as well as the original fan sounds. It really is great with a very powerful high quality speaker. The sounds are strong and easily fill a large room. We particularly enjoy the organic sounds and the more meditative sounds which are chimes and chants. It's is easy to use. Some minor downsides, it does not come with a plug only a USB cable. You need to supply your own USB charging plug. Not a big deal for us but some may not be ready for this. The buttons are flush and do not illuminate so it is difficult to adjust in the dark. The volume steps are quite large.

This is only the second night we’ve used it with our 9 month old... and she slept all night for the first time ever. Coincidence? Maybe. We were using a grofriend white noise owl and the timer was very irritating and I’m sure it switching on and off was disturbing her sleep more, so I do think the constant white noise has helped. The volume control is great to adjust and its user friendly. Thumbs up so far.

Sorry to say that for the price, I am disappointed. We haven't slept properly in over a year due to loud neighbours and a 24/7 printing factory near us. So we really needed something to cover the noise. This product is a lot more money than many, so I thought it would be good. It says 16 different sounds. However, most sounded the same! Like they had been recorded off a bad phone, then slightly changed. Just harsh uncomfortable static x10 and maybe two slightly calmer sounds, that would be okay for yoga, but too distracting and alarming for sleep. Not nature sounds at all. Should be birds, and actual non-static rain, maybe thunderstorms etc... and soft wind chimes not menacing chimes.

Good product

I bought the Whish Sound Machine as for 15 months I have been kept awake through the night by noise from my neighbours boiler coming through my bedroom wall. The Environmental Health did nothing to help me and I was literally at my wits end, losing hours of sleep every night and feeling unable to cope with ordinary life. I tried leaving a radio at night but because the music was interrupted by talking this was not successful. I looked at Amazon to see what else there was and saw the Whish, which sounded ideal so I ordered it. I have had it for only 3 nights so far but what an amazing difference it has already made to my life. I have not heard the boiler noise once in those 3 nights. I could never have believed that anything could have made so much difference.

Machine itself works well and is easy to use. Design is pleasant and minimalistic, small but easy to handle. HOWEVER, the sound is very tinny and the white/pink/brown sound variety is restricted and many of them sound very similar. Non-looping sounds though. Returned because I wasn't happy with any of the white noises, felt like annoying noise. Bought another one and very pleased.
