Betulia Liberata

This is one of those rare CD's where everything is perfect. The quality of recording is nice (the harpsichord is clearly audible with a lovely effect), the sound of the orchestra, the election of tempi, the wondeful singers and overall the music. Betulia is a wonderful work full of beautiful arias written in a typical early-classical style. Although all the singers are very good, I must say I am very impressed with tenor Christian Zenker, a clean and agile voice, and with alto Margot Oitzinger. I hope to hear from this orchestra and Michi Gaigg in future.

Quel bonheur de pouvoir vivre une époque où les orchestres sur instruments anciens se mettent à remettre à l'honneur des partitions longtemps et très injustement négligées. La Betulia en fait partie. Mozart, dès son plus jeune âge, a produit des partitions d'un intérêt absolument évident malheureusement fort mal interprétées au disque. Grâce à l'excellent Orfeo barockorchester, c'est chose réparée. Disque très chaudement recommandé aux mozartiens passionnés.
