JL Audio CS110LG-TW3 Sealed PowerWedge Enclosure with 10" TW3 Subwoofer

I have a 16 Silverado crew-cab with the bose system and stock sub in the dash. The bass was ok with that system but I needed something that would really bump "work from home" by Fifth Harmony.I fired up this bad boy and paired it with the JL Jx500 amp, and it pounds. Definitely more than adaquate for my needs; still amazed at the amount and quality of the output in relation to the minimal footprint.Fits nicely under the seat and can be easily removed if needed.JL will be getting my business when it comes to car audio solutions in the future. Definatley spend the extra and pick up this sub, you won't be disappointed.

This speaker sounds amazing. I have it in my 2002 single cab S10 it fits good with not losing any seat clicks. I have it hook up to a JL 500 mono block amp. Very good match

PrologueLast year I bought a 2015 WRX. It's a great enthusiast car but everyone who knows anything about it knows the base sound system is awful. Combined with road noise and the low hum of the exhaust, the low end is completely washed out, especially on the highway. The stock tires used on the car are known for higher than normal road noise. All of these factors along with the lack of sound deadening to save weight make for a terrible atmosphere for music.The DriverThis model PowerWedge has a 10 inch driver. It is rated for 500W and features a very small 4 inch depth. It is one of the main reasons I bought this unit. I did want nicer sound, however I did not want to sacrifice too much space for it. Upon my initial research, I had considered getting a unit that might fit under a seat or in the spare wheel well in the trunk. Further along, I realized that was unreasonable for the power and quality that I wanted.The BoxIt is a sealed unit, meaning there is no port. It is made of medium density fiberboard and has a black automotive carpet finish. JL AUDIO is stitched in the front as seen in the photos and the power terminals are on the side. The speaker is protected by a steel mesh cage. It is strong, but it will dent if it's hit. But hey, better than hitting the driver.The SoundI should start by saying am by no means a sound engineer and anything here should be taken as subjective. Also, everyone's taste differs and you should really spent dedicated time listening and tuning your system. I listen to a lot of rock/indie rock/stoner rock/desert rock/blues. This generally means the bass balance will be more neutral with less boost but plenty of power throughout the range. I have noticed a hollow sounding noise if the crossover is too high. JL Audio recommends starting at 80hz and that seems to be about right for this unit. Nice full, crisp bass. Bass drums are nice and thumpy and bass guitar is clear and pronounced. It took me about 6 months to tune it where I wanted. But to be fair, I had no idea what I was doing and any decision I made was purely qualitative.ConclusionThis unit is fantastic. I had no idea a single 10 inch driver was capable of so much sound. Much stronger than I'll ever need it. My stock head unit tops out well before the sub does. Like I said earlier, I have no desire to shake my car, use it as a stereo in a parking lot, or try and impress other people. You probably want something larger than 500W for that. I was after pure quality. This unit delivers. Should this unit ever break, I'll be sure to update this review to give an idea of lifespan. I have a feeling this will outlast the car.
