Great product
I live in Hawaii where it is sunny most days. I found I had to add quite a bit of water to my pool due to evaporation at least once a week, sometimes more in the summer. Since installation of the solar blanket, I haven’t had to add water to the pool yet (it’s been over a month) and had to lower the pool level when we had several days of heavy rain. It was super easy to install and easy to cut to shape (mine is a kidney shaped pool). If you have a rectangular shape pool, it’ll be even easier! The blanket also stopped the dead leaves and debris from my trees from going into the pool. It does warm up the water (my pool is not heated), which is a bonus for me. So if you like your water cool, you will need to remove the cover a couple of days before using to cool it down. Overall, this product works great for reducing the amount of evaporation from the pool and helping to keep the pool cleaner. I highly recommend it. Addendum: Now that I’ve had this cover for a year, I’m disappointed to report that the durability is not great and it has shown signs of disintegration — the bubbles are often found floating in the pool. I did see a video showing the exact problem I’m experiencing. I wished I had seen this before purchasing. Although it states there is a five year warranty, when that customer attempted to talk to the company, he was met with resistance stating the information had to still be in the cover itself. Also there is a prorated amount you still have to pay and also the cost of shipping for them to send a replacement. Something to consider before purchasing this product.

Critter deterrent, excellent solar (free energy) heater and cuts down on chemical evaporation. Great price for what it does!
Finally a duck deterrent that works! I live by a lake...a lake filled with wild ducks. Ducks like to swim in my pool.Cute right? NOT! The filthy little creatures like to crap everywhere and anywhere they are LIKE IN MY POOL! Grrrrr. I tried motion sensor sprinklers, audio pest load speakers, fake alligators, shiny globes, laser lights....even fire crackers! I even bribed the winged nastys with bowls of whole kernel corn down by the lake to keep them down there but the little creeps just kept coming back and using my pool for a toilet in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. After having to drain, pressure wash, paint and refill my pool for the third time I finally decided to try this, because it would also act as a solar blanket heating source. OMG IT WORKED! The ducks won't come near it and my pool shot up 15 degrees in a couple of days (granted I live in Florida but this was before the summer heat set in). I have since purchased a swimming pool cover reel that I use to roll this up every morning (takes 2 minutes) and unroll it at night (takes 2 minutes). I haven't had a single problem with the ducks since, (or the frogs/bugs/BIG turtles) the pool stays cleaner, chemicals last longer and it really really really heats up the pool if you leave it on during the day. Covering at night keeps the pools heat trapped in (along with the chemicals that would otherwise be evaporating faster) as well. I used to have solar heating panels on my roof for heating the pool and those actually never got the pool above 84. This thing took it to 94 in a few days! I actually only use it at night now (or if the wind picks up and starts blowing crap in my pool during the day) to keep the ducks out and the pool clean. This is hands down the best product I have ever seen for heating the pool and keeping the critters out (also had a frog and HUGE very big turtle problem too - oh the joy of living on a lake with an in-ground pool and no screen room). I highly recommend this if you have a pool pest problem, want to bump your heat up in the cooler months or just want to cut down on chemical evaporation. IT WORKS! Also, I'd recommend eventually getting a cover reel because it's so much nicer to roll it up and unroll it rather than just dragging it up on to the deck but that does work. I did that to begin with. :-) BTW, I still feed (bribe) the ducks so my wife (disabled) can watch them and they might walk up the hill to check things out, but they won't come near the pool now even when the cover is rolled up on the reel (sits at the shallow end of the pool unless we're in it - then I roll it out of the way - it has wheels).

Works great the first 2 years
I’m on my 3rd summer using this cover. It’s been great the first 2 and 1/2 seasons but halfway through the 3rd season the bubbles are starting to break and it’s ripping. Looking at the more expensive options from reputable companies they come with warranties but looking at the restrictions this problem wouldn’t be covered. Because of the great price point from this on Amazon it’s a good buy and I recommend. The only thing for me is that I can’t have it on all summer when not in use because it heats my pool way too much, however does a great job with water and chemical loss

Quality liner that helps heat, save on evaporation and keep pool clean!!
Best solar liner I have ever purchased! It arrived quickly and very well wrapped with no issues. Since I do have a pool design with rock formations and a waterfall, I had to cut it to fit and that was done very easily. I put it in by myself and let the sun soften it up for about a half hour and was able to mold it to the edges/curves where I needed it before I commenced cutting it to size. With our Arizona heat, it doesn't take long to heat up the pool and we have been able to swim late into the evenings as it kept the pool water around 89 degrees and evaporation down! When we want to swim it only takes us less than 20 minutes to remove liner. My hubby and I pull it out half-way where I can rinse with the hose all dirt/leaves that accumulate on top and as he is continuously rolling up this end, I continue to rinse off the remainder of the liner until we have it clean and totally rolled to put off to the side for swimming. It is not heavy, bulky or that much of an inconvenience as I though it would be. We have many trees, plants and bushes on our property so the pool has needed continual cleaning due to the strong winds we have had lately and lots of leaves and flowers falling in it and making quite a mess of things. This liner has made it so much easier to maintain and I couldn't be more grateful as it has spared me hours of pool maintenance and allowing late night swimming. Sometimes, I don't have to put the cover on for 2 days because the pool's water is still very warm from the previous day. This liner is much sturdier than some I have seen at the local big box stores and a much better price through Amazon. So far, I am very pleased with this purchase and the feasibility of this liner is worth every penny. In the past, I always bought solar rings, but they did very little in keeping out debris and got dirty as leaves clung to them. They were also either deflating or getting rusty as water got inside the rings and I found myself replacing them because they rarely lasted beyond one season. Not only were they a bad investment, but they did a very inadequate job of heating up the pool and that was enough incentive to try out this solar liner. I have had this cover on for a month and will provide a follow-up when the season ends to evaluate its durability. Presently, I am very content with this purchase and its quality!

Don't be fooled by the warranty.
The cover is a lot thinner than the one we had previously. Also, the one we had before was one large piece and this one is several strips of material with seams to hold them together. The material does not feel much thicker than regular bubble wrap. It was easy to cut but it seems there are always some air bubbles trapped under it which is not good because that is where the material gets really hot in the sun (since it is not being cooled by the water). The cover makes the pool warm up faster. We did not get the cover for this purpose and I am not too happy about it because I am under the impression that algae grow faster now that we have this cover. We generally have a cover to reduce evaporation, now more important than ever due to the severe drought conditions in California. I am happy we got the cover and I found a relatively good price on amazon compared to local stores. I highly recommend getting a cover to anyone with a pool in California. However, as other reviewers pointed out, the warranty is not really a warranty. From a good manufacturer I would expect to send me a replacement item if the product wears down too quickly or has any defects. This company would not exactly do that. They start with the MSRP (list price) and then make you pay a percentage of the list price for each year you were able to use the product until it failed. That is in addition to the shipping and handling fee that you would also have to pay. If the product fails during the first year you only pay shipping and handling, during the second year you also pay 35% of the list price and during the third year 50%, the fourth year 70% and the fifth year 90%. In other words, after the first year the cost and hassle to get a replacement would be so high no one would use the warranty. Now I understand that warranties are often abused and the company is trying to protect themselves from that. However, this warranty is seriously so consumer-unfriendly that they should not advertise with the warranty. Because at first sight I though this must be a pretty good product if they offer a five year warranty, many pool covers don't last that long. But it's really not a warranty worth mentioning and it is not an indicator of high quality. I would actually consider the warranty as false advertising - I mean a 5year warranty where in the 5th year the customer has to pay 90% of the list price plus shipping and handling to actually use the warranty ? In other words, don't be fooled by the warranty. Update: The pool cover didn't even last a year. It was totally destroyed about 7 months after we started using it. All of the little bubbles had basically popped and released small blue plastic circles into the pool which clogged up our filters etc. So if you combine the poor quality with poor customer service you get an absolutely unacceptable product. I would not recommend it at all.

For the price and performance, can't beat it!
So, for about $100.. for the first time in the 4 summers I've owned my pool it's warm enough to go in, anytime I want. This last weekend the pool was probably close to 90 degrees (it never crossed about 80-82 without the cover) and we're still in June. I may need to leave it off this week as it almost works too well. Last month I was in the pool a couple of times and it was likely 80+. I live in Burbank, CA and this year it's been between 70-80 most days in May and it's getting even warmer. Without the cover, during the peak summer months (where its 95+ every day) it would hit 82.. but even a few weeks on either side of that, it was cold enough to make my nieces and nephews complain they didn't want to go in, and that's a bummer! I got the 18x36 cut, my pool is about 18x32. I trimmed it myself with scissors (and I actually cut it a couple inches too short, seems like it may have shrunk a bit) so be sure to leave an extra 6" or so around the sides for a good month before trimming it to your final size. I think when I first cut it, I had left it out for a couple days it was really flat. After that, taking it on and off you get air bubbles etc and that tends to pull it in a bit, so leave some extra space around the edges. My pool guy makes me take it off each week so that the chemicals don't dissolve away all the bubbles on the water side, he also says they'll clog up the pool pump. But, it's easy enough, I do it by myself most days, it is much easier with 2 people though. It's kind of a pain yes to put it on and off, and it dumps some dirty water and the leaves sit on top and spill into the pool when you take it off, but it's worth the extra effort. I just pull it and leave it half folded, half crumpled up while swimming, and then drag it back over the top when done. If you need a few extra degrees, this thing will definitely do the trick. It also keeps the pool from losing as much water. It does seem to affect my pool cleaner that tries to move around under the cover, but gets stuck often (it did without the cover also) and last couple of weeks there's been a few green spots that the pool guy has cleaned up, but never before had any so again probably due to the covering of the water 6 1/2 days of the week, but seems simple enough to adjust the chem levels a bit. It's been on the pool for about 3 months now, and it seems to be holding up well. Likely will last at least a few years. Recommended for those that want a quick and dirty way to heat the pool without costing you a boatload!

Just get out your card an buy it. Now!
Those of you who have read my reviews know I don't pull punches. I'm going to divide this into two parts. The solar blanket as a product and this brand of solar blanket. I'm an unemployed scientist who takes care of my neighbors in ground pool. I have 17 instruments on my compost pile. I observe things, weird that way. It was into fall and the pool was getting to that point where you couldn't enjoy it. She had me getting it ready to winterize. In order extend the pool season and keep leaves out I suggested a solar cover. Pool temperatures fall into three categories. Athletic competition 82F, recreational swimming 85-86F, and therapeutic 88-89F. Pools warm during the day and cool at night. 80% of the energy loss is from evaporation. So theoretically anything that seals the surface reduces cooling to 20%. Well it's absolutely true. And it is clear enough solar energy can get trapped under the cover. The first day was a cloudy raining afternoon. The pool warmed one degree to 86F. It felt fabulous to swim that night with the cool air and relatively warm water. At 86F you can walk into and only hesitate a few seconds when wetting sensitive areas of the body. Therapeutic you walk right in and coo. The next night air got down to 40F the pool stayed at 85F. Over the next two nights of 40s and daytime in the 70s the pool dropped to 82F. That is a phenomenal thermal retention. I am sure most bubble wrap solar pool covers do the same. Down sides are there is no more pool skimmer function, leaves under the cover stay there and leaves over the cover will have to be removed. I would highly recommend a pool cover reel. folding it up and pushing it out of the way is tedious and getting trapped under it is dangerous. I intend to leave it in under the Winter safety cover to float that off the water and ice. I got the 12 by 24 cover for a rectangular pool with round corners and walk in steps. I will want to trim the corners to fit once I have the reel installed. It does not blow off even in heavy winds. This is made of a very heavy blue bubble wrap. Maybe three times as thick as postal grade. They have welded two 6' strips together to make the 12' width. It's pretty and well made. The shipping bag serves as a storage container. It came in two days from ordering it. The price here on Amazon was either better or within percent of other suppliers, plus you get free shipping. I would definitely recommend this product and the supplier to anyone.

Maybe will last one or two years.
The pros: The cover did work for the first year, and kept the pool pretty much as warm as I wanted. I live in the desert southwest where it often gets to over 100 degrees, but it also gets really windy so without a cover the temperature will often drop to the low 70s. With the cover I could easily get it to 95 degrees if I wanted. It also really helps with evaporation and reduces the amount of chemicals you need, first because the sun does’t break down the chlorine as quickly, and second because with less evaporation and less water added, the PH stays much more stable. The cons: Saying that this pool cover has a 5 year warranty is really misleading. I treated it very carefully, always had it off for the full day when I shocked the pool or added any acid. I purchased this on 4/7/2014 and after just one year in April it started falling apart - it became brittle, cracking, and the bubbles started coming off. I contacted the manufacturer and they shipped me a replacement. I had to pay for shipping which was around $35. The replacement I got was actually a 3 year cover (cheaper and thinner). The same thing happened in under 6 months to that one. When I contacted the manufacturer they told me I had to pay a prorated amount of THEIR cost plus shipping. Their cost is MUCH higher than Amazon, so to replace it again after 18 months it would cost about $97, almost what I paid for a new cover through Amazon. Below is the communication with the company on 10/23/2015. I originally purchased the cover on 4/7/2014: "Under the warranty agreement you are responsible for the prorated amount of $83.63. You are also responsible for the shipping amount of $35.94." After I let them know this was ridiculous, paying as much as a new cover for a warranty replacement, they responded again: "I can completely understand where you are coming from. I reviewed your receipt again and it stated that you purchased this last year, 4/7/14. The warranty proration is based off of the current retail cost which is $328.95. I have went ahead and escalated this, and the best I can do is offer the proration amount of 61.00 and the shipping amount of 35.94." However, it may be as good as any other pool cover, just don't expect it to last anywhere close to 5 years. I called Leslie's pools to ask about their warranty and they said their 5 year cover only applies to seams coming apart (they're melted together so I don't see how that can happen). They said if the bubbles pop or crack the warranty is voided. So basically their warranty doesn't cover anything. Compared to that, Blue Wave was great.
