The Sketchbook Project Journal: More than 300 Ways to Fill a Page Diary – March 5, 2013

I couldn't find any images to better describe the interior of the book and kind of hoped it would be something different than what it was... its basically an empty sketchbook with prompts in it. I got my copy used for a great price, but it wouldn't be something I would have bought brand new. Its a cool idea to keep you active with drawing, but you don't need this book for it. I will say though, since you are meant to write and doodle in it anyway, they really did pay attention to their production materials and used some really nice paper. Its smooth and a bit thick, good for pencil and erasing, as well as ink use. Might be able to handle markers even.

I really LOVE the idea. It's kind of like a Inktober premade ideas on each page. Using various methods and tools to learn how to use more tools to create. However only 3* due to the paper feeling really cheap and I couldn't get I to lay flat like a normal sketchbook.

It was not what I was looking for. I was looking for a 'how to do it' book. I think it would be great for anyone that wants to journal. I just wanted to construct one myself. I have all the prompts that I want to write about already. I didn't want the book to go to waste so I started covering up the prompts on each page with paper and ephemera that I have. It is turning out okay.

it's a large empty notebook. But the cover material is nice, and paper looks thick enough. Not sure if it worth the buy.

Purchased as a HS graduation gift--it looked neat, though!

I was really dissapointed when I got this book. I had expected it to be more of a book book from Sketchbook project with things to read about and tips etc. This book is a journal, and there are pages that are like..."draw ......" to help you come up with ideas. Which is amazing if that's what you're looking for. I personally didn't like it because I was expecting something different.

I was somewhat disappointed with this purchase and ended up giving it away. Being a "studied" artist, i found it to be to gimmicky for my needs. I thought the 'prompts' to be very immature and childlike. The project itself may be great. If you are looking for a journal with more imaginative prompts – look elsewhere. Perhaps great for a young kid.

It is a fun way to nudge your creativity - I am enjoying the process which is what it is all about.

Maybe it was me not paying attention but this book was not at all what I expected.I read the cover thinking- hey this could be a great resource for my teaching, lots of pages filled with great ideas. I was inspired by the concept of the 'Sketchbook Project' in NY and thought it would be great. How wrong was I. Opening it up I was presented with 300 blank pages each containing an 'inspirational' phrase like 'do something fun today' or 'draw with your left hand'. The titles are pretty banal and not exactly inspiring. It may work for 5-10 year old's but not for 16+.Don't bother, invest in a nice Moleskine instead.

Bought as a christmas present for an art student - she loved it!

So I love the sketchbook project and this was not inspired for me. A list of activities felt more like occupying your time than taking you on a journey.
