Exceeded expectations!
I enjoy photography but I certainly am a product of the SLR days. Today's smartphones take great photos and have many options, but the form factor is terrible - clunky, at best. This grip provides a familiar feel to taking photos/videos. The unit is very responsive. Press the button and there is no delay. Setup is very easy - just pair the button to your phone and you are done. This unit comes with a battery that will inductively charge your phone if your phone supports Qi/inductive charging, as my Samsung does. I am very impressed with the build quality and performance. It's not oversized yet feels very normal when using it. Anyone who is an SLR/DSLR photographer will instantly feel at home with this grip. There are cheaper brands that do not contain inductive battery charging. There are other units at 3X the cost that are far more feature-filled and provide their own app that turns your smartphone into a very familiar screen presentation of a DSLR. But, for me, this grip is perfect for the price point and for what I plan to use it. I took this to an office party and took many photos. People there universally liked it and also complained about how clunky photography is using a sheet of glass as a shutter button. Everyone liked this Adonit unit. I sent them the link for it. Cons: It doesn't have a "cold shoe," which is something I didn't even know until recently what it was, much less have used one. So, "no big deal." One other minor issue: Mine arrived with a dead battery in the Bluetooth shutter button. This is a standard 2016 button battery which I easily replaced. The shutter functioned normally after that. I tested the Qi/Inductive battery to charge the smartphone. That charged completely and was able to charge my smartphone with no problem. The big question: Would I buy this again? Answer: Yes, without hesitation.

Almost perfect, Will use it a lot when traveling
I'm using this with a Samsung S7 phone. I had to change the setting for the volume controls from "zoom" to "take picture". My phone is in a Spigen Tough Armor case and the phone seems very secure in the photogrip. If the case was a little thicker then I'm not sure if the grip would be as good. Using the tripod as a grip when inserting and removing the phone makes the task much easier. The spring load is very strong and there is no easy way to get a grip on the spring load part. Not using the tripod as a handle when inserting and removing the phone it is a little risky. Be careful not to drop the phone. The wireless charging works but I'm sure it is the slow charge mode which should not be a problem. Great feature! The tripod is study and the phone is well balanced when in the tripod. A swivel head can be added to the tripod if that is desired and I'll probably do that if I can find a very small one. With the phone in the PhotoGrip it still fits into the front pocket of walking shorts but would probably be pretty tight when wearing jeans. Overall a great product but there are two reasons I didn't give this product five stars. There is no way to add a wrist strap. Including a hole somewhere in the PhotoGrip to add a wrist strap would greatly reduce the risk of dropping the phone and make carrying the phone with the PhotoGrip and possibly the tripod attached so much easier. The neckstrap is intended to fasten to the carrying pouch but there is no secure way to connect it to the pouch. The only way to attach it is to snap the neck strap to the draw strings on the pouch. A study grommet and metal ring would make the attachment of the neck strap secure although I doubt I would want to use the pouch as the way to carry the phone/photogrip combination. I would buy this again and may purchase some as gifts. A couple minor improvements would rate a strong five stars.

Very handy little phone accessory
I bought the Adonit Photogrip Qi as well as a Shiftcam grip at the same time, and while the Shiftcam is an exceptional platform, I often find myself grabbing the Photogrip much more often as it's so much more convenient and simple to use. I have found the Photogrip to be a great solution to the issue of using your smartphone as a camera. The grip itself is comfortable to hold and well designed. As other reviewers have noted, the battery on the shutter did arrive dead but I did order both the battery replacement and the grip at the same time which saved a bit of headache. In terms of build quality, it certainly is not as sturdy as the Shiftcam is but I wouldn't call it flimsy. I do have some concerns about the long term durability of the phone grip itself though. Otherwise the wireless charging works well enough, I wouldn't depend on it but it does come in handy in a pinch, and the shutter button (once you've replaced the battery) pairs quickly and is fast and responsive. It's also very convenient that you can remove the shutter and use it as a remote. The downside of course being that the shutter button can't be used to switch between photo and video mode, you'd still need to do that in the phone's camera interface. Lastly, I have heard the included tripod often described as cheap but I beg to differ. While it certainly isn't a Manfrotto, it gets the job done. I actually wish Adonit would sell these tripods separately so I could pick up a few spares for my other gear. Bear in mind that for larger phones like the Galaxy Note series or any of Samsung's S+ or S Ultra devices, the center of gravity is off to one side and the tripod may tip over as a result. The inclusion of the standard 1/4 inch tripod socket is great as I can mount the grip to any tripod I own. It's just that the socket is on the expanding phone grip which as I talked about earlier is the weakest point on the grip, I feel like it'll break eventually. Otherwise, if you're looking for a simple, affordable photo grip for your cell phone that also doubles as a wireless charger and tripod mount, you can't go wrong with the Adonit Photogrip Qi (the black version has all but disappeared from the internet so grab the white one while you can)

Good idea with one major flaw
The battery for the shutter is a small watch battery that need to be replaced VERY often. Even when you have not use it much. Especially when you used it only sparingly once and store it away. The next time you try to use the photogrip. The battery is already depleted and need replacing. I only tried on the the adonit grip when I received it by clicking the shutter a few time and then store it in the provided pouch. Then fast foward a month later, when I tried to use it, the shutter battery is already depleted. This is a major flaw of this unit. Why can't it be designed so the shuttter battery is integrated as one chargable unit. As it stand right now, you need to stock up with CR2016 battery in your pocket to take with you anywhere you go. To make matter worse, the adonit app had disappeared fro m my android app library. So now this grip will no longer connect with my phone and become a $50 paper weight that won't even hold the paper down since it is not that heavy.

Great device with a few minor issues
Overall I'm very happy with it. It feels sturdy and looks fantastic. The button is very responsive, barely any delay between the button press and the picture being taken. Definitely great for anyone who enjoys using their smartphone for photography. I have a pixel 3 Xl with a case on it and it still fits. I only have a few small issues. The kit includes a neck strap which I assumed would be for added protection. However, there doesn't seem to be anyplace on the device to attach the strap. I just ended up putting it on the carrying bag that it comes with. It would be great to have a way to attach a strap to prevent drops. I also hoped the tripod would stand a bit taller. It folds out pretty flat and doesn't really provide any leverage to the camera, plus there is no way to adjust the angle of the tripod. This isn't really a big issue though, because it can be used with most tripods. Other than that, it's a great product.

Disappointed...twice!
Ordered twice and both times the shutter did not work. Very disappointed. Updated: I contacted the company and they said most/all of Amazon units come with the battery too depleted to work and I should change the battery. Once I did that it worked great. Now that it works the issue is consistency. Some time I'll change the camera on my phone, and the device will revert back to the main camera ,or a few times it just turned off. I hope these will be addressed if there is a future iteration.
