Leick Home 89400 Rustic Oak and Slate Laptop Desk with Drop Front Keyboard Drawer, Distressed Rustic Autumn

Buying a piece of knock down furniture especially when built in southeast Asia or China, has always been a roll of the dice for me. Mis-aligned holes, poor quality wood, soft metal fasteners that easily strip have never been atypical. BUT, this desk was DIFFERENT. Pleasantly surprised. Well machined and decent hardware. Simple to construct. Sturdy. Oak veneer on the MDF desk top and exposed sides was very good. Solid oak or other hardwood used at connection points for legs and shelf. Absolutely no wobble. Good fit and overall finish. Very pleased. Anticipate that this box [very well packed in the shipping carton] at delivery will be heavy and awkward to handle, so if the desk is destined for an upper floor, you should consider unpacking the parts on a lower floor and schlepping it up in 5 pieces [about 3 trips]. The desk top piece is fairly heavy for one person to maneuver so it may be a challenge going up-stairs or through narrow spaces for some, but the other 4 pieces [2 ends, a back and a lower shelf] are more manageable. There will be lots of foam pieces and shreds of foam packing material clinging to everything due to static electricity/adhesion, so plan on having a vacuum cleaner near by. And yes, as someone else opined, it was dusty and needed to be wiped down. Unpacking it in the garage if you have one, is a nice option.

This end table is my 4th piece from Leick so I guess my money speaks louder than words. This is a very solid piece, good quality woods. The finish is even and looks rubbed on with a little "distressing" giving it a nice patina. Color wise it has a slightly "orangy" tone that's typical for oak finish. I appreciate the hardware which gives very tight and perfectly joint that wont come loose, although I hate fighting the allen wrench. Although this is made China, they are a USA company and I was able to call their customer service with a question. Overall in this price range this value for money, highly recommended.

Simple, quick summary: just a few minutes to assemble; rich look and feel of a handmade product; rigid, sturdy and well engineered from a fit standpoint. When it’s finally assembled, I could be confident that I could sit on at 180 pounds with no flex or degradation to the table. That says a lot about a $150 end table, in my opinion.“Strongest recommendation” with an add-on: liked it so much, I bought a second for an asymmetrical design application (not as a companion on the end of that couch, but as a side table for a high-back chair). Still better: the first table fit so well, and I was so impressed with the fit/finish, that I searched the Amazon on-line Leick catalog and found a mission side table which I purchased and just assembled. This is a really nice, solid wood table. This is my third Leick furniture purchase, a demi-lune entryway table was the first and it's great too. However this table is more solid. Easy to assemble and is in near perfect condition.Bought the other wedge style as well (9035-med) which matches the demi lune. This one with the slate is wider and of thicker wood. I recommend anything from this company. Just a little more expensive than all the cheap veneer tables that look nice but are terrible quality.

The product arrived and was good quality and easy to assemble, however, it was missing one of the slate inserts.

I'm a 73 yr. old grandmother. I just assembled this with little knowledge of construction work, nuts and bolts. This is so easy and it turned out beautiful. I am very happy with my purchase. I would highly recommend it. Don't let assembly scare you.

Very nice, well made solid wood piece. Fit perfectly as a end/speaker table to finish off a small living room. Good value, well packaged too.

Given the low price, we had minimal expectations that were happily exceeded. The Rustic Slate Recliner Wedge Table was nicer in person than it appeared in photos. It is rustic, so it may not suit everyone's home style, but it is very solid and is very interesting piece. We love it!
