The snails arrived safely and there were six of them, so I was immediately grateful. They all arrived alive and they are in my tank doing fine, at least I think so. They love to hide in the dark, so I have not seen all but two as they tend to hide in the inside of my aquarium decoration. Their colors are spot on, but unless you have bright aquarium lights, do not expect them to look as spectacular. In dim lighting they may appear more brown. I have mine with Goldfish with a water temperature of 71-74 degrees and the snails are doing just fine. I find mine mostly active at night. Because they are tiny, don't expect miracles as far as tank cleaning is concerned because they can only eat so much being so tiny. I would certainly not add these small snails to tanks with larger tropical fish who might eat them or damage their shell by trying to eat and then spit them out repeatedly. Also, since these snails are tiny, it even takes them awhile to come out of their shells if you have fish who are inquisitive and peck on them constantly. I have caught one trying to climb above the water line, trying to get out of my fish tank, so be warned. As far as them not being able to breed, I'm afraid that no one told my snails that because I do have small baby snails in my tank and there are no lives plants, so they are the definitely from these snails purchased. They are truly beautiful and the shipper did a wonderful job shipping them quickly, safely, and, very kindly, added an extra snail.

The only reason I gave them just the three stars is because they are a lot smaller than I thought they’d be but they’re still beautiful and I’m sure they’ll get bigger. They came very alive. We packed very well and I will be ordering again.

I ordered 10 snails. The weather turned very cold right after the shipment went out, and I worried about the snails. It was about 35F when the snails arrived. I put them in the tank, and as others have said, nothing happened. Nothing happened for 4 days. I put wafers right next to them. Nothing. I contacted the seller, and received a very quick (same day) reply. The seller told me to give it up to 7 days, and to check again. If any snails look really bad, you can smell near the trap door for an odor.Day 8, 8 of the snails were suddenly up and going. Day 9, all 10 were on the glass - although moving slowly. After 3 weeks, my tank was absolutely spotless. I'm not sure how I lived without these snails before. They even clean the corner silicon joints, and old (should be replaced) tubing for air. The tank is spotless. Great seller, great product. These are a must for any tank. Very pretty as well :)

The six snails I purchased all arrived alive, and have remained so for the last six weeks.They appear just as the snails in the product photo, when I have the bright lights on in the tank.Full disclosure: they were meant to be food for my monstrously large 16-year old goldfish who had been on an algae-only diet for three months (he refused all other food), and that couldn't be healthy. He hates shrimp - has fits when I try to feed it to him. So I thought I would try snails. TL;DR: the snails were much larger than I thought they would be and my dear scaly can't eat them (although he was curious at first).So, the shrimp settled in an immediately began clearing my algae farm. They appear to be thriving; indeed, there is no shortage of algea for them to feast on, at least for now. Tank is in a small open space with a north-facing window wall, and we never open the blinds on the windows. However, there is still enough sunlight for algae to prosper. I keep the water temperature between 66 and 72 degrees (depending upon the season). Apparently, zebra snails do not like hard water, so I have been diluting the filtered well water that supplies our home with bottled drinking water when we do our weekly cleanings. They seem to like that as they become more active as the weeks pass. There were decorations that I haven't seen without algae in over a decade that now all but sparkle. The glass on three sides is crystal clear, and they have even made inroads into the algae growing on the rear wall that I intentionally leave algae on as a bio filter. The footprint of the snails is about the size of a nickel coin, so they are not small, at least not nearly as small as I expected. In a few months I will likely have to add algae wafers to the water to keep them fed. I have also lowered the water line in the tank as a few of them have a propensity to climb above the water line. I am afraid of them exiting the tank, then drying up. Funny, I bought them as a food source for my scaly and now I'm doing everything I can to keep them alive and comfortable.So glad I made this purchase.

Update: My first order was great. See below review. I was so pleased that I decided to order three more. Well, not only did I not receive nerite snails, I received seven DEAD mystery snails! The container stunk so badly I could smell them b4 I opened the lid. So disgusting. Sent pics & msg to seller yesterday. Hoping to hear back soon.I couldn't be happier with the seller. I ordered three zebra Nerite snails and received four. Shipping was prompt and they were healthy. Within five minutes of placing them in my aquarium they were crawling around in search for food. I would not hesitate to buy from the seller again.

Instead of 3, I got 4 snails and they immediately started sliming around the tank. Packed very nicely too. Will purchase again from Aquatic Arts
