Piggie and bunny approved!
Hay, online? What? Well, we broke down and purchased Standlee online, after having a difficult time finding a similar sized bale in local stores. To our surprise, and much to the delight of our guinea pigs and bunny- it was excellent quality 2nd cut Timothy hay. Green, aromatic, lots of hay tops and its plenty soft. Our zoo is eating this hay right up, lots of happy piggy popcorns and bunny binkies!! It has remained fresh and smells great. The price is worthy of the quality hay- which proves itself as soon as you see your pets getting excited each time they know another deposit of this hay is being dropped!! Give it a try, it is a good buy.

So Far I’m Very Impressed!
Wow this 25 lb Timothy hay came in a huge 24x18.5x18 box. I was more impressed when I got to open it. It was neatly stuffed in a black plastic bag & smelled fresh. It was long stalks of green hay too. None of that brown dead moldy stuff. Now the taste test. My 3 yr dwarf mixed Bunny is super picky about her hay. She’s been eating another brand for the past 2.5 yrs. I hadn’t been too happy with their hay quality but she just seems to love it. I just wanted to try this. The Other hay I was using tends to be super dusty towards the middle & end of box which I hate. Also lots of brown dried hay & their 20 lb Is cut up into short pieces which gets very flaky when distributing. This wasn’t like that at all. It was nice & long which I could pick up with my hands w/o flaking off. Then again it’s the good stuff on the top so can’t comment until I’ve used it a bit. As for taste? I couldn’t tell you but my Bun has been eating & nibbling on it. I’m very happy about that but only time will tell. I hope this is a keeper bcz the price point was fabulous. I paid more for just the 20 lb box from the previous brand. You can see from the pics how green their hay is... I’m not lying. I’ll update after going thru the box a bit. This will definitely last a very long time.

Best Option For Small Show Rabbit Herds
We have been purchasing Standlee brand timothy hay for over 5 years. It serves as a food staple for my children’s small herd of 4H show rabbits. Timothy hay is the most recommended type of hay for rabbits, as it has the right balance of fiber and nutrients. Some people prefer alfalfa hay as feed but I have read that it alfalfa is higher in calcium content than timothy. While this may sound good on the surface, since rabbits are prone to urinary stones if fed too much calcium, timothy is the better option. We tried different brands of timothy hay, available via Amazon and locally. The Standlee brand seems to be fresher than what is typically available on the store shelves and more economical compared to other on-line options. As the herd grew from four to 13 rabbits (I did say it was a SMALL herd), we switched from the 10 lbs box to the 25 lbs option. The shipping box is convenient for storage and the lid flaps and internal bag helps to keep the hay fresh and reduces wasted hay and mess on the floor. We believe this to be the best option and the lifetime of the rabbits prove it. Many of the rabbits have lived beyond their expected lifespan and have won several rabbit shows.

Best hay I’ve found
I learned about this hay through the parents of the two guinea pigs I’m fostering and I’m happy to say that I switched instantly. This hay is fresh, smells good usually, is a great quality, contains almost no dust, is healthy, and my guinea pigs love it. Unlike Kaytee hay this hay has no funky odor too which is great Honestly the best hay I’ve tried yet I would definitely recommend this hay (or Oxbow) if you want healthy good quality hay for your guinea pigs while getting a good value. They always pack their boxes as much as they possibly can so you always get a good value for your money(it should last a good two months at the very least for two pigs)

My Guinea Pigs won't eat any other brand of hay
I've had multiple pairs of guinea pigs over the years, and they wouldn't be so picky. I could go get hay from a farm or buy Wal-Mart hay and they'd eat it up. I started ordering hay online when I moved into an apartment and couldn't exactly store a bale of hay in there. It's convenient and a decent value considering the quality and convenience. Now, my two girls will not eat any other brand of hay - no Kaytee, no Oxbow, nope - they only want the Standlee. It looks a richer green compared to the stuff from the pet store, and it also smells fresh and lush. When I shove some in the pigs' cage they hype right up for this grass and start purring. *However* you can sometimes get a box of 1st cutting hay full of think stems that some pigs won't eat, but they're infrequent and it's still better than the Kaytee stuff.

High-quality & lasts a long time!
I recently adopted a 4-year old, 5.5lb female Standard Chinchilla mix rabbit at the beginning of October. I had stocked up on Oxbow orchard grass before bringing her home, which she seemed to enjoy, but it was a bit rich for her, judging from her poops. Then this Standlee timothy hay arrived, and what a stark difference that was! My bunny LOVES this hay. I keep one end of her litterbox constantly stocked with hay, in addition to another hay feeder next to her bed. She eats a ton of it (a ball about the size of her body each day) with great gusto, and her poops are healthy-looking. I've had her for about 3 months now, and I'm probably a little over halfway through this box of hay. It comes inside a large bag within the box, which I just keep closed with a giant chip clip. The hay is stacked in individual compressed thick "sheets" - there is some dust between the layers, but the vast majority of the box is high-quality, long, green hay with plenty of feathery heads, and my bunny is always excited to eat it. I will be purchasing again when this current box runs out!

Great Hay, Great Price, Great Packaging
The largest downfall of caring for our beloved guinea pigs has been our hay issues. We have gotten timothy hay from Small Pet Select. It's great hay but the amount of 'hay dust' has been unbearable (in the cage, on the floor, in the air). Their packaging also made the hay leak everywhere, so we needed to make a change. WOW, this was the right move. 1. It's packaged in a giant box with a thick plastic bag. It stays contained in the box and you can reclose the plastic and the hay smell stays contained. 2. It is bright green with lots of the fuzzy 'tops' that the piggies love. 3. It doesn't have the mountain of small dusty particles that not only were getting everywhere on the floor and in the cage, but were in the air. The hay smells fresh but doesn't dominate the air in the room. 4. This is an enormous box for a crazy good price. 5. Our pigs devour it. Win on all fronts!

The worst hay I've ever bought.
The hay I received is awful. I can't say that this brand's product is ALWAYS awful, because I've only purchased it once, and it is normal for there to be some variation in hay quality... but wow. I normally purchase Oxbow Western Timothy, but their quality has declined a great deal in recent months, so I have been trying to find another good hay. This isn't it. It's stale, flimsy, and there are very few pieces that have any kind of rigidity (firmness/crunchiness) - the kind of hay that a bunny's sensitive GI system requires. It is actually incredibly dangerous for rabbits to eat a moderate amount of stringy, fibrous hay. It can lead to GI stasis (constipation), which is deadly to them. It can also cause severe abdominal pain and a trip to the emergency room. I can only speculate as to whether this hay would be appropriate for other animals, as I do not possess the knowledge or experience to speak on the matter. As this seller does not accept returns (although every other retailer I've purchased hay from will accept returns if it is not to you or your animal's satisfaction), I spent about an hour digging through this box to find enough safe pieces for my rabbit to eat. About 90% of the box's contents had to be composted. My rabbit hated the pieces I was able to give him, and he is NOT picky about hay. He normally chows down every little piece in his box. When I gave him this stuff, he just kept taking bites, dropping them out of his mouth, and moving onto a new piece. I felt horrible. And I have to say, the hay looks absolutely nothing like it does in the picture. If quality is something you pride yourself on, you should make sure that every box is up to the high standards you have established for yourself. As this was a handpicked box, I will be steering clear of this brand. Oh and also, the plastic bag containing the hay was wide open, which directly contradicts the product description.
