TaoTronics Wireless Barcode Bar Code Scanner Handheld Reader Kit

My library wireless scanner quit working. I wanted to try something different. This fit the ticket. It was relatively inexpensive & does exactly what I need it to do. Plug it up & go. I didn't even have to program it!

This is the second Taotronics scanner I have gotten. The other one at $79.00 was a joke.This model comes with a User's Manual but there are no install instructions? No software drivers? So when it installs, the USB driver says it can't install properly (Win 7 Pro)... There is nothing in the manual that describes what the lights on the scanner or the base unit mean. It doesn't tell us to charge the unit first. Because the lights on the scanner are active you think it is charged, but I'm not so sure. Right now the scanner is blinking quickly. Does that mean the battery is low? Not communicating with the base correctly? It is trying it's best to annoy me?Learn how to write a manual please Taotronics! There are no drivers on their website in the download section and no "complete" Users Manual. Get with the program or go out of business like the rest of them! This one may be going right back.UPDATE: Taotronics got back to me with a new installation guide that gives the basics on how to install the scanner so that is a big plus. They are also in the process of updating the User's guide for this scanner. Even that they contacted me says they are reading these reviews and want to try harder to please their clients. That is a win win. Any company that tries to please their clients and help them with situations in a timely manner should be commended! Thanks Tao! Changed from one star to three stars. I still have to determine if this scanner will work on our workstation located in the warehouse.

There were no instructions on how to use it. For example how to change channels and how to parr the device. The instruction booklet is all about bar codes and little about the device and on how to program the reader. I had purchased the cheaper model and have it working well. The booklet tells how to read, transfer the data, and clear the device. it will insert the single or multiple reads into Microsoft Word and Excel. I was hoping that the more expensive model would allow a distant transmission of the data to the computer, but so far no luck. THE COMPANY HAS CONTACTED ME ON A FEW OCCASIONS AND HAS HELPED TO SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS. SO I AM NOW VERY SATISFIED WITH THE DEVICE AND THE SUPPORT.

We purchased 2 of these scanners in January - had to exchange one almost immediately as it would not charge. Purchased one more in March because I thought another one had gone bad. So now we have 3 and we just finished a grueling physical inventory where the scanners read maybe 50% of our labels. We are using Quickbooks Enterprise 15 with Advanced Inventory - I purchased these scanners because of the positive reviews of their compatibilitywith QB but this process has been a nightmare. The scanner would not even read new barcode labels consistently after we printed and retagged everything. Not sure if it's all the scanner's fault, but there were many many labels that it wouldn't even read. Also the scanner will not work if you do not have a very strong wireless signal. Now I just found out that one of the three we have isn't working. Ready to return all 3 for a full refund and start over with another brand. Another complaint . . . I cannot figure out how to program the scanner. The manual is no help and is not even written in good English. Would not recommend this product or the brand to any one out there that needs a reliable scanner for inventory use.

Nice little scanner, works well for the price. Using it in a retail pet supply store with Quickbooks POS. Enjoying the freedom of a cordless scanner, makes ringing a sale so much easier.

Completely non-functional. No instructions included to tell you how to sync base unit with handheld scanner. The scanner does not function when you pull the trigger. Pressing buttons on the base does nothing. The only manual that comes with the unit is all about changing parameters of the bar code scanner IF you can get it to work in the first place.I strongly recommend you avoid this item and shop for a unit that has a stronger track record of actually working.

Scanner stopped working after 8 month or so! The manual doesn't include any info about the different lights on the receiver. Customer service is horrible! No troubleshooting and it took me an hour to ask for a new receiver because i'm out of warranty now and can't get a new whole unit. New receiver didn't make it work as well because obviously it's a driver/firmware issue. They don't issue drivers to their scanners.HORRIBLE experience.

The scanner stopped working after approximately 7 months. After having emails ignored for a month I was finally able to get someone on the phone who sent me a replacement scanner. It worked for just over 2 months and the only option they gave is sending me another scanner. Obviously I don't want another scanner that will work for a short period of time then stop working again.
