MRE Star MRE Kits Case 12 Pk

Overall I am happy with these MREs. Received them with just under 3 years left of shelf life. Can't ask for better. I have opened only one so far, the Tuscan Beef. The drinks are good. The pink lemonade is solid, not overly sour or sweet. The coffee was a darker roast, but not bitter at all. The crackers were simple and crunchy. The cheese spread is standard MRE cheese, I personally love it. The oatmeal cookie is very good, sweet and flavorful. The roasted corn was surprisingly good. They were salted, unlike many MRE roasted corn's. The main, while good, was a bit too powerful on the tuscan spice. I am someone who likes heavily seasoned food, but this was a bit much. But good overall. I like that these come with mains you do not get in other MREs. They are mostly unique to Star. The accessory pouch has a good spoon (not as good as the military spoons), salt, pepper, red-pepper, sugar, coffee, cream, napkin, wetnap, smarties and a surprisingly nice plastic toothpick. The FRH worked well. It started heating immediately and heated the main thru pretty well. It was not steaming hot or anything, but was warm enough to be a hot meal.

Havent tried them yet, look to be as advertised and I will update after testing.

So I ordered on Labor Day and it arrived on Friday. Bought for a late season elk hunt. Opened it up to try the heater and the food, the heater worked very well and was hot enough to burn my fingers. The food it pretty decent for mre food. We tried the chicken and rice, it tasted like a can of chicken rice soup so not to bad. The sides were pretty tasty as well. Honestly the quality was better than I expected. The one down side is the portion of the main meal, little on the small side for an active guy if he’s hungry. Over all I would definitely buy these again in a pinch.

Do not buy less than one year exp.. this is old stuff. Other reviews said they got three year expiration dates.

The issue with the MRES are a few thigs. 1. The main entrees are so watery that it leaves no heartiness to the meal. In every one I have tried in a case it's always plain cracker which you must use and crumble into the main dinner. Even Russia has better, heartier meals and crackers. Don't get me wrong, these are fresh and taste (better when you add salt and pepper). it comes with mostly sugar cookies which aren't bad and some kind of corn nut or fruit mix. There is no gusset on the bags which would be handy. The best thing about these are the heaters, they heat super fast. They need to add some better crackers and maybe peanut butter and jam or something. I can't see getting full off one in the field and I am not a big eater.

Fast shipping and great variety. I got 6 different entrees in a 12 pack which is good because I like having at least 2 of each one. Mine say best before 2023 so idk the storage conditions prior. I'm hoping itll last at least till then. I'll buy more cases from them again

Other than being 2-3 weeks late being delivered, other than that everything was just as described.
