This fitting is used to connect 5/8" drip tape to mainline tubing. Simply punch a hole in the mainline tubing, connect the drip tape to the tape end of the fitting and insert the barbed end into the punched hole.To create a tight seal, be sure tape is warm and pliable before attaching the 5/8" start fittings and end fittings. If leakage continues to occur, a 1/4 turn with pliers should suffice. This fitting allows a flow of 80 GPH at 10 PSI.The barb on this fitting is slightly larger than the a standard 1/4" barb. Make the appropriate sized hole for this fitting. Does not connect to 1/4" tubing.

000' of drip tape and it's been wonderful.
These are so simple I'd think they couldn't possibly work, but they do, and extremely well! Just poke a hole in the supply hose, pop the barb in and attach a piece of drip tape. Takes about 30 seconds and no leaks. I can't figure out how they don't leak, but they don't. I've converted my whole garden over to drip using 2,000' of drip tape and it's been wonderful.

They don't leak!
I have always used the Digg inline drippers in the past, but found them too hard to layout, and pretty expensive if you are doing row crops. I still need them to do mounds of vegetables, like squash, but for corn, beans, garlic, etc. I think tapes are more efficient, cheaper and easier to set up. I started out with Chapin tapes and accessories I bought at groworganic.com. All the connectors leaked like a sieve. I even tried plumbers tape to make the connections not leak. I complained to groworganic.com and it seemed many people reviewing the product had the same complaint.I lived with it for three years until their tapes totally clogged up and were useless. Then I saw these Irritec tapes and accessories at Amazon. Wow, what a difference. There is no leaking between the connectors and the tapes, and the tapes come in different spacing for the drips. 4 inch, 6 inch and 8 inch. The Chapin Tape only had 8 inch and the rest of the garden on the Digg system was done way before the crops on the tapes. The Irritec 6 inch spacing is perfect! Balances up nicely with those mound crops on the Digg system. We'll see if they clog over time. Our water is heavy in calcium and it makes for challenge using drip irrigation.
