It's not meant to overwhelm with words, very toddler level. The illustrations are pretty if a bit small sometimes and the transparent pages are so cool. Covers a lot of topics that you can expand on Review: Perfect for my 4 yo - Great graphics. My son was interested enough to start asking questions. It does start with baby in womb(has a clear sheet, with picture. When you flip the page the image changes on backside of clear sheet). They use this method repeatedly(muscles, bones etc). Is age appropriate but if your not ready to talk about babies in the womb you might want to hold off on this one. But my son loves it and we pick it up at least once a week and he shows me where his bones are that are in the pictures.

He learns best by seeing what is being explained
My 5 year old has a lot of questions about his body. He learns best by seeing what is being explained. This book offers kid friendly images that help me show him what's on the inside. He loves the pictures that overlay.

This is a beautiful book on the human body -- the overlay pages are gorgeous and show how each system in the body works. Some of the figures are anatomically correct. This book provides just the right amount of detail for a preschool-aged child who is curious about how the human body functions. I would recommend this for ages 3-5.

Must read for curious toddlers
My almost 3 year old absolutely loves this book. He's had a fascination with the body from an early age and loves the detail and explanation in this book. Totally age appropriate for 2.5-5 and serves as a great intro into the body.

Good book for children learning about human body
A great book about the human body for children. It has transparency pages to turn so they can see muscles, skeleton, veins and arteries, etc. They enjoy turning the pages. Received promptly and in good condition.

Good for 4 year old to “see” inside the body
My 4 year old loves this book, there’s more here than he can fully understand now but he can still look at the pictures and ask questions.

Exactly what I wanted
My 3.5 yr old son keeps asking about anatomy. He's interested in hearing about his veins, muscles and bones. And he wants to see pictures. I wish the book was longer and a little more in depth. But for a 3.5 yr old this is the perfect start. I love that it's a board book with overlays. It's just too cool!

Bought for my son who has recently turned 3, this book is the perfect starting point for understanding the human body. It is comprehensive so would probably suit an older child as well, without being too complicated for a younger child. The illustrations are very detailed and clear and I really like that the body featured is that of a child similar in age to my boy (so that he understands that it's basically himself that he's looking at.) My son has recently been enjoying a wooden anatomy puzzle featuring the different layers of the human body from skeleton, organs, muscles, and then skin, so I was looking for a companion book to open up that conversation further. It's worth noting that he isn't very advanced in terms of holding a conversation yet he still finds this book engaging. I'm really pleased with this purchase and highly recommend this book to a wide age range of children.

Amazing little book! Measures about 6" x 7". Hard cover, with cardboard pages. Very durable. As the parent, I love the internal transparent pages to overlay on the regular illustrations. Concepts are easy to follow. My 3 year old is fascinated to better understand what is happening inside her body. We have re-read the book many times. A great purchase.

Wonderful little book. Our three year old has been fascinated by the human body and this little book is a nightly read for her. The transparencies are fantastic and well thought out to show her protective. Well done! Highly recommended

This was smaller than I had expected, but that works well. Really well suited for my four year old who has a ton of questions about how bodies work and doesn't go OTT with too much information. To the point, visually pleasing and exactly what I was after.
