In The Groove Vinyl Roller Cleaner

6-11-14 Like many used vinyl record buyers, I find it difficult to wait until I can set a day aside to start an arduous session to solely wash 20 to 40 per-day record washing marathon. I do a complete job, including new sleeves for the jacket and record itself. I must admit, it's becoming tiring to go thru that every few months or so, and lately, I've been more and more reluctant and lazy about it. Being a dedicated vinyl listener and owner of quality playback equipment since the late-sixties, my comments are honest and sincere as is the sound of my playback system. Enter the new way I do things: If, I'm so crazed that I must give a quick listen to my newly acquired haul of used, worn and dirty records, which I bring a new haul into the house every 3-5 months. There's a solution though to make listening quicker, and it's safe, extremely easy and so satisfying with its results. Forget those fiber brushes as they just move dust and dirt around with not enough control, sometimes even re-attracting it back onto the record. I own about 6 or so of these brushes, some have even worn out or the bristles have gotten too soft to use effectively. Not since I purchased a RCM several years ago have I used and indorsed a product this much, I'm so impressed by it, I recommend it to anyone I meet who does already or is thinking about using vinyl disks. Granted, I don't think anything can offer the deep-down-cleaning of a wet/vac machine, but this "In-The-Groove" device is the perfect companion and follow-up device whether you use a RCM or not, and it comes very close to allowing for the same results. The only deciding factor is the condition of said record and that's always been a factor in the world of vinyl. I own over 4500+ used vinyl records that I've purchased with-in the last seven years to add to my original collection of 300+ records bought new, starting way back in 1961. That first LP record was "Walk Don't Run" by the "Ventures". I'm not that extreme though, as there is a guy in the East who owns over 500,000 and there are many others who far exceed my collection. In the many years of record cleaning attempts and hopes that I could enjoy better sounding vinyl, nothing ever came close as this new blue roller. Unless you're willing to make the commitment of the purchase of a RCM along with all of the necessary accessories needed to do a satisfactory job, and can find the time, I don't know what else to recommend, except paying some one to do it for you, and that's not realistic financially. Being conscientious and bordering neurotic about record care, I tried a number of consumer products out there. In 2008 or so I purchased a popular RCM, which was a Godsend in of it self. But after spending so much time to clean any number of records, it always appeared that dust and static charges were going to be my constant enemy, as it has always been. Whether using an anti-static gun during the washing process and afterwards or not, dust was always present. As far back as 1975, the "Di_c-Was_er' was a welcome benefit to use, I own 6 of them crazily enough, but they never completely did away with the dust for the most part, nor did it actually clean the grooves that well. So, long over due, I finally started using carbon-fiber brushes in the early 2000s, and it was so exciting to see better results than ever before. Fast-Forward to the present: I found something that's ridiculously good to use. In the last four months or so of using this new roller-type of device, the "In The Groove" by name. How groovy sounding is that? Hey! Don't make fun, in '68 when I was 18, `groovy' was a regularly used word for me, and my peers, in practically every sentence! Trust me it sounded better than, "Awesome" or mid eighties "Rad" or "Like". The world has changed again for me, and my record collection, but somehow, I'm newly using this word again, much for my own humor, of course. I don't wait for someone else to tell me something is funny, I laugh at my own stuff, it works for me. Back to this "In-The-Groove" thing, how much of a `consumerist' am I becoming in my later years? In '68, I was such an `anti-that' or `this' type of kid. I guess the world has changed? I now come home like I did last week from my buying `seek and concur' expedition with another 50 or so used records. There were at least 3 or so I just had to listen to immediately. But, first I had to allow my system to warm-up for 30 minutes or so, cause "that's what I do!" I use a separate cork/rubber mat for such purposes mind you so that the regular mat is not soiled with the new dirty used acquisitions (records) and I do the recommended roll along the entire record surface thing, it's easy-pezzy. Then, I gently place the stylus on the record as usual and I'm listening to a disk that would not have been enjoyed until I dragged out the big RCM and spent the entire day cleaning records. It also helps to `edit' my new purchases of used records as to which is a total `keeper' and kept with the group or which is going to be put in the `I'll get to it another time' stack. Please don't don't tell anyone but, last week I almost thought with so many records to clean, why not just sell the big RCM and stick with the sticky-substance roller instead? I'm at a point of being so overwhelmed with this vinyl addiction thing, that this sticky blue roller has been a major help for me. So, to say that I'm very content with this newly purchased sticky thing on a roller is an understatement! My biggest fear is, because this device has made it so easy, I may be prompted to buy even more used records. I also fear that this new roller will encourage others to buy used records, driving the prices up. I shouldn't care with the almost insane number of records that I have, I'm forgetting what I have as it is, there's just too many! Buying used records has become a problem for me obviously, can't you tell? I just can't stop doing it! There's gotta be more to life? Being realistic, I just don't have any more storage room for more records, besides, how does one find that kind of time to listen? Getting back to this product, it is the best thing to happen to vinyl! Best Regards, Frank Marsi

I originally gave this item a one star. After I received an email from the owner of the company, he agreed to send me another cleaner and it works good. I guess the first one I got was a bad apple. This replacement doesn't leave the residue on my vinyl as the first one did. Apparently the roller design was updated because it was leaving a residue on customers vinyl. Also I realized that you do not need to press very hard for this device to work properly. That was another issue some customers reported. Very light pressure is sufficient. The problem with the rollers surface leaving residue was apparently fixed and I appreciate the owner listening to his customers. That rarely happens in this day and age. I will have to admit that this is great for the entry level vinyl fan who doesn't want to spend 600.00 on a vacuum machine. I still think that vacuuming is the way to go if you are a serious audiophile. This is by no means a cheap hobby and there is way more to buy than a nice turntable and a few albums. I realize that spending money on a vacuum cleaner is money that could be used to buy music. I mostly use a carbon brush that is grounded to my system and it covers the entire Lp. It's about 13 inches in length and it gets all the debris and dust from my albums. If any is left I blow it off with a small device that I have that is basically a bulb type blower to clean keyboards. It will also suck the debris up as well. I am glad to say that this is a nice product and it works well. I use it occasionally between deep cleanings , or if a I am out of solution for my VPI. It also cleans up a lot easier than the first one I had. It rinses clean with a slight wipe under water and I usually let mine air dry. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for a good cleaning device that are on a budget. I have been collecting albums for quite some time now and I have a lot of rare and colored vinyl, MFSL vinyl and about 300 Japanese Pressings with their OBI's. I always deep clean with my vacuum when I buy either a new vinyl album or a used one. New vinyl sometimes has fingerprints, oils, or small pieces of vinyl residue. I then place the cleaned Vinyl into a Mobile Fidelity inner sleeve keeping my original as well. I paid $1200,00 for a cartridge and I do not want to ruin it from debris in the grooves. I have no issues with popping or other noise as most of my vinyl came from a private collector and he took very good care of his albums. Most where only played once to record to Reel to Reel. I apologize for giving this such a terrible review and I am glad that there are companies out there who still listen to what their customers think about their products. Según la descripción me parecía un producto interesante para la limpieza de mis preciados vinilos, pero una vez que lo tuve en mis manos, no lo tenía tan claro. El producto cumple bien tal y como se describe. Es pegajoso y se limpia con agua. El problema que le veo es precisamente eso de pasar un rodillo impregnado de algo pegajoso sobre mi colección de queridos vinilos. Francamente, no me atrevo. Pero el producto es genial para un sinfín de otras cosas. He de decir que probándolo sobre cualquier superficie, recoge muy bien pelusas de mascotas, migajas, etc. Da gusto usarlo, y en apariencia no deja rastro de pegamento. Pero aun así con el asunto de mis discos no me queda claro. Llamadme desconfiado o cobarde, pero de momento seguiré limpiando mi colección con líquidos pensados para tal fin. Pero como el rodillo tiene infinidad de aplicaciones y cumple bien, se merece cinco estrellas.

Does an excellent job of removing surface dust and provides an ideal "quick clean" or "preclean". Be careful with it though, especially around the label!

Habe den Roller jetzt seid ein Paar Tagen in benutzung und muß sagen das es von anderen Geräten zum Staub entfernen für Schallplatten , die beste Wahl ist . Staub wird sehr gut entfernt. Die Reinigung der Rolle ist ebenso problemlos . Mit Wasser abspülen und mit Küchenrolle abtrocknen und die Rolle ist wie neu. Bin wirklich erstaunt wie gut das funktioniert , war erst sehr skeptisch , nun aber voll auf begeistert. Volle 5 Punkte

Prodotto efficace e sopratutto pratico nell'utilizzo che per quanto mi riguarda ha risolto il problema della pulizia dei vinili. Per una pulizia davvero efficace e completa mi aiuto con una lampadina tascabile il cui fascio di luce indirizzato sul vinile già posizionato su piatto evidenzia ogni traccia di sporco e polvere anche su dischi apparentemente puliti compresi quei nuovi appena sballati e ad esempio solo usandolo appunto su diversi dischi nuovi recentemente acquistati ha catturato un bel po' di sporcizia di varia natura, e va da se che chiaramente ne giova la qualità dell'ascolto. Caldamente consigliato
