You won't be disappointed with this one, especially with pets!
I was tired of the Bissell Powerforce Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum that we had at our place that supposedly was good to clean hard surfaces, reduce allergens, and had easy clean filters - yeah right . My boyfriend has a long-haired chihuahua that sheds, and he was convinced that the Bissell was just fine. However, the vacuum would just push around hair, and I'd be left on my hands and knees scooping smaller chihuahuas off the carpet and laminate floors. After a week of researching about 10 vacuums and the best deals, the Shark Rotator Professional (NV400) seemed like the perfect fit and perfect price at $130.To prove a point to my boyfriend, I first vacummed the bedroom level of the house with the Bissell, and then with the Shark. Pictures below (first 2 are the Bissell, second 2 are the Shark) HO-LY COW. The difference was absolutely astounding in cleaning, noise level, suction power - everything. When I told him the other vacuum was going in the closet, he didn't contest it lol. It sucked up so much more hair, dust, and dirt than the Bissell with 6 passes first round of cleaning! Vacuumed the rest of the house, and the carpets look fantastic!Assembly: Took less than 5 minutes. You have to screw the top handle on, and put the accessories in their holders. Bam, done.Weight/Size:-The shark is 16lbs but not heavy. I could lift it with one hand going up/down the stairs (I'm a 5'0" 115lb woman) with no difficulty, though of course, it is easier with two hands. I wouldn't consider it bulky either. I could sit it on the stairs and vacuum with the attachment without it rolling away, and if it was sitting on a stair it was fine, though I used one hand to secure it so as not to fall over.- The head (?) of the vacuum where the rotator is, is narrower than the Bissell which was awesome to get in the hard to reach space in between our bed and the wall without having to move the whole bed, and what's visible underneath the bed. That 2 inch smaller head does make a difference.- Easy storageSound: It is quieter than my last vaccum. Has a lower pitched sound, except for the furniture/stairs attachment which is incredibly loud and high pitched when used. It was a tad annoying trying to vacuum 2 levels of stairs with the loud noise, but not unbearable.Attachments/Functionality:-The vacuum comes with an arm, a rotating+swiveling pet attachment (good for stairs and furniture), and a brush. The hose has a nice handle on it that I found ergonomically pleasing. When attached to the stair attachment, it even allows it to swivel to get the underside of the stairs (probably my favorite part).-The 30 foot cord is awesome, so I could vacuum all the bedrooms, and even one level of stairs without having to switch outlets.- The hose was long enough that I could vacuum several stairs without having to drag it to each stair.- There is no compartment for the pet attachment, but I have no issues with thatDumping: - Super easy. Dumps from the bottom with the click of two buttons (bucket release and bottom flap) without dust flying everywhere. I grabbed a plastic garbage bag and held it over the bottom.Other: -You know that stale smell vacuums sometimes produce, and only opening the windows (sometimes) helps? I think the Shark sucked all of it up and then some. No smells came out of the vacuum at all. No pet smell, no dust flying out of the vaccuum - those filters are awesome. - There are also lights on the head which I never thought I would care for but it's really helpful to see in areas that aren't well lit (like under the vanity or desk).- DAT SWIVEL. This thing can take corners and angles like a beast. Also because of the swivel hinges, you can get under the desk or higher set bed without the front wheels coming off the ground.- Definitely got stamped in pet hair with only 2 passes. For more stubborn hair it loosened it up in seconds. Super pleased. Conclusion, I HIGHLY recommend this vacuum, especially with pets. Already convinced a friend with a cat to get it :D

Comparing this to the Shark rotator lift away...
I have both the Shark rotator and the rotator lift-away. I have used the lift away for the last 1 1/2 years. There were things I loved about it and things I hated.....What I loved:Light weightQuieter than my old vacuumGreat at picking up pet hairReally cleaned wellWhat I hated:When the attachments were used, the vacuum would fall over. The hose was short and had no flexibility. I really HATED this. I use the attachments a lot and the vacuum would fall over and hit my ankle or a piece of furniture. The electric cord was not long enough.I liked the cleaning ability of the Shark so I decided to get another one to have a vaccum on each floor of the house. This time I did not want the lift-away since that is a feature that I never used. So I got this one because it was cheaper than the lift-away and since I did not use that feature, it made sense to just get this one. I am glad I did. I like this better than the lift-away because it fixed the things I hated about the lift away while keeping the things I loved. The attachment hose on this one has quite a reach. I can leave the vacuum at the bottom of the staircase, vacuum the stairs with the motorized attachment and the vacuum does not move or fall over....quite an improvement from the lift-away. The electric cord is longer as well. I think by 3 feet? Could be wrong on the difference but it is longer...I can do my living room without changing plugs. The filter is easy to clean and the debris bucket just lifts off with the push of a button. Simple to care for.I really am impressed with Shark products, this particular model especially. I use the vacuums DAILY on my 2500 sq./ft. house. I have 2 German Shepherds that shed year round and 2 teenagers that track everything in to the house. The lift-away has been used 532 days straight and this one has been used daily too since I bought it. They are sturdy, easy to manage, do an awesome job cleaning and are easy to maneuver. I highly recommend!

This like most other brands
After researching vacuum's, and trying to find a "quiet" vacuum (my daughter has hearing loss and we do not want to add to the issue), I came across this model Shark which advertises quiet operation. This like most other brands, the decibel rating was not disclosed, however I could not bring myself to spend the money on the Electrolux Ultra Silencer or Miele. So I decided to order this one and see just how "quiet" it was and if it fit my needs. It is much quieter than my former Eureka - the high pitch does not exist when using only the bare floor operation mode. However, when you turn on the brush feature to use on carpet, there is a slightly higher pitch emitted. You can hold conversation's while vacuuming, albeit, you to have to raise your voice a little to talk about the noise of the vacuum. It is much more quiet than my former vacuum, and I feel comfortable vacuuming around my hearing impaired daughter. I say this with this disclosure - the stair/pet attachment is quiet loud, and emits a much louder high pitch sound. The suction adjustment on the handle is inconvenient, as it is easily adjusted inadvertently while utilizing the tools. I would not use this attachment around my daughter. This vacuum came with plenty of attachments, long cord, and easy empty dirt canister. The filters are easy to get to, in order to clean. The vacuum is heavy, and a bit awkward to maneuver. It fits into small spaces easily. The suction is AMAZING. I love that this vacuum works spectacular on hard flooring and equally as well on thick ply carpet. For the price $$ - this vacuum is worth while.
