Swann PRO-752 PTZ Security Camera with 22x Optical Zoom (White)

I have only had this camera for 4 days, but at this point I love it. It does NOT include any IR illumination (no IR LEDs), but it IS sensitive to IR, so if you have another IR light source, it will work with that. However, I have found it really does not need an IR source at night, because the 0.05 Lux light sensitivity provides very good (black & white) image and resolution under street light / porch light levels of light at night. If you have no light source, then you would need a separate (IR or regular) flood light. It retains excellent color image to very low daylight levels (early dawn/late dusk). When zoomed all the way out (widest angle) it is a normal, not wide angle, image. When zoomed all the way in (22x),it is a very good telephoto that (in daylight) lets me read a license plate at about a 1/2 block distance. At night, under street light illumination, I can read a license plate at about 100 - 120 feet. (Stationary not moving in both cases.) The camera uses standard RS485 interface for PTZ, and works fine with a non-Swann DVR. It comes with a small PTZ controller which I'm running in parallel to the DVR connection (it can be controlled by either). The small remote is just more convenient to use (for a single PTZ camera). It is mounted outdoors, but so far only in a very fair weather environment. I've tried to address several of the questions I had before purchasing this. Hopefully the review will be useful to others.Edit to update. I've now had the first camera for over a month, and ordered a second one a week after the first. I also ordered a joystick PTZ controller because the small controller that comes with the camera is not able to specify a camera address, so you can't use it when you have 2 or more cameras in parallel on the RS485 line. Both cameras continue to work well. Both are mounted outdoors, and have been exposed to heavy rain and moderate wind without problem (except the dome does get rain drops/spots on it, but they have dried clean/clear).I have found two minor drawbacks. First, when moving to a stored position, the camera will move away from the point first, then move to the point. This is not an issue if you are manually moving it to a specific location, but is distracting and time wasting when you are running a stored pattern execution to multiple points. The second is it sometimes does not auto-focus properly at night in poor light conditions, but can be manually focused and holds the focus once it has been focused. I've never had a focusing problem in daylight. For my use, neither of these is an issue, so my 5 star rating remains.Update about 14 months later. (12/31/15) The first of the two cameras died today. The second continues to work well.

Have not had good luck with this camera. Have ordered this one and the next model down. Neither one worked out for various reasons. I have multiple stationary cameras and was REALLY EXCITED about a PTZ, however I have decided that cameras in this price range, which is all I can afford, are just not reliable enough to worry with. I ended up wasting a LOT of time and money on cables, mounting brackets on roof, etc....When I hooked this camera up in my living room to test it before mounting on the house, it worked fine, until a loose screw from the camera mechanism fell into the dome. Just sent it back.

The media could not be loaded. The top of the video is the same all the way around 360 degrees. You see the Camera housing and not what you want.The Good: This has a good picture both at night and in daylight. Zoom is great. a little slow to focus but not bad, Easy to set up and tie to other brand DVR.THE BAD: Camera is to deep in camera housing and when you tilt it up 55 % of the view is blocked. and not only when zoomed in, it is blocked zoomed in and out. I have now sent 2 of these back. would not have got the second one but customer service at Swann said that is was not right and must have been damaged, or built wrong. So I had it replaced. Second was the same. Called Swann again and was told it was made like that. I said why . got no answer. if you want to only look at a down angle say not above 75% this would be a great camera. (Or if you want to keep a eye on the inside of the camera housing this is for you.)

camera sets to high in the housing 1/3 of the picture is blocked at the top, good knight vision, good picture if you can live with 2/3 of a picture

The picture is clear gone through 4 PTZ’S.The black dome is a lot better sorry for the light review I would have so much more to say on this purchase. I have a lot more purchasesI could save a lot of people time buying PTZ cameras but I’m doing this Left handed one finger at a time. Amazon should have talk to write like Google has for people like me the right side of my body doesn’t work well at all and I’m Right handedThat is why my review is so short writing this takes too long I hope Amazon see’s this and put’s a small symbol up. Then I could talk and then my reviews would be in more detail.

Installation wasn't a breeze...running the PTZ cord through the wall to the attic was a dirty thankless job. Mounting the camera was also fraught with problems and compromises and I found I couldn't get it installed level to the roof. However, after the installation issues were over I found it to be heads and tails better than my bullet cameras and the cost for a retired military person wasn't an issue. Even at night the picture delivered is detailed and clear. The zoom and 360 turning ability has already enhanced my ability to secure my modest home. I've discovered no problems with the normal workings of the PTZ camera. This camera finishes off my 8 camera security system and has helped to make me feel more at ease now that I'm alone in this world and live in an Arizona neighborhood were all people who live around me are not neighbors but instead strangers. Let's just hope the Neighborhood association has no issues with the camera installation and doesn't make me remove it. I'd recommend this camera to anyone who can finish off a wall after making numerous holes to run the cords.

I called customer support four days ago to find out when my product was shipping. The guy told me it would be shipping that day. I just got an email saying the product is shipping. He lied to me because he thought I was going to cancel the order.To make matters worse, model swpro-752cam is not 27x optical zoom as advertised. It is 22x optical zoom. NOT EVEN CLOSE!I just received a replacement for the first one that wasn't focusing correctly. The second one does the exact same thing. Getting a refund and moving on.

Lasted about 2 years, lost position. Knowing it was not the highest quality, l locked in on 1 position I needed the zoom.
