A Unique Reference on Early (Mostly British) Watch and Clock Makers
This is a "specialist" book consisting of a nearly 900-page small-print list (around 90,000 entries) of mostly-British watch and clock makers from the 16th through early 20th centuries. I bought it because I'm attempting to research an English silver watch dating from either 1797 or 1823 (the hallmarks look very similar). The watch's maker is indeed listed, and this seems to be the only place I can find mention of his name. I can't find a reference to another book with such a comprehensive list. This is for collectors and researchers of early British watches and clocks and not of general interest.

What can I say!!!
This book has so many early clock makers in it that it takes the guesswork out of who/what/when in terms of researching antique english tallcase clock makers. It's a must have book for anyone serious about these clocks!

I gifted this book.
My friend has about $3M worth of clocks in his house. He repaired one of mine and I bought this book for him as a thank you gift.

Vital.
Nothing is better than finding the clockmaker or watchmaker name you're looking for, and this book is the best way to do it. It's more of a surprise when you don't find the name you need. Saw this reviewed in the NAWCC Bulletin; membership in this organization is vital, too!

Combining 2 reference books into one
Instead of looking up the 2 previous volumes by different authors, this makes it much easier to search for a maker

Kindle Edition just Baillie
The Kindle version only includes the second edition by Baillie, so if you're looking for the later version revised by Loomes, you'll be disappointed.

It's OK
Better than one other book I have, but still not as comprehensive as I expected.
