I'm very surprised to see so much positivity for this scent. To be clear: it's not bad. In fact, it's clearly very good, it's just the type of scent I thought went out of style in the 1970s with the advent of the musk and sandalwood forward hyper-masculine orientals. Bay rum scents are the kind of splashes your grandfather would wear, if you grew up in the 1970s. Or the 1770s... Still, they are always popular amongst the wetshaving community, so i suppose it was only time that this scent profile would get retooled for the larger fragrance market. Now, I am a fan of Nathalie Lorson. She made one of my absolute favorite scents with Encre Noire a l'extreme.. and though this is very well made and balanced (more so than the new iteration of Royall Bayrhum 57 for example), it's just a bit underwhelming to me. What this adds to a simple bay rum profile is nice: There's a good kick of pepper in the opening which dries almost immediately to more woody goodness. This will stick around for awhile along with the clary sage, giving almost barbershop vibes every once and awhile. There is (to my nose) a dark powdery note enhancing this effect. Maybe the incense? The benzoin, cedar and patchouli are noticeable to me and make for a great base that I really love. In fact, The drydown of this fragrance, i must say, is phenomenal. This is heavier than most bay rum scents and will last a fair amount of time. It's not a sillage monster, nor does it last forever, but by the time it is a skin scent, it is delicious. Ask me next month and i may be addicted, but for me right now, this is a staple scent i wouldn't wear in a formal setting. For a night out or a day exploring, it's perfect. I love amber-benzoin fragrances and this fits somewhere between the really oriental Moustache EDP and the far more aromatic Bijan. I just find myself reaching for those more.

Based on the reviews, I wasn't sure about this fragrance, but after one use I was sold! It is definitely a very masculine fragrance, but other reviews seem to imply that it smells like an auto mechanic's coveralls, which isn't even close to being true. It does have the leather and tobacco notes, and does smell "boozy," but I disagree with the comments about notes of petroleum. In my opinion, the overall fragrance notes are leather, imbued with a subtle notes of fine whiskey, completed by a strong spice finish. This is an EDP, so it is stronger than competing colognes and EDTs, and its longevity is therefore very good, easily a full afternoon or long evening. Overall, this is an extremely well priced elegant fragrance for men that should be used for any special event or night out. This will be one of my top choices for special events (i.e. weddings) and for general evening wear.

hmm Overrated, smells like a $30 bottle of cologne, some colognes smell expensive, this one doesn't. It reminds me of an old man who's wearing cheap cologne sitting on some stairs, with a walking cane near a jetty, filled with boats, in an European country like greece, or who's in his bakery business handing you a loaf of bread over the counter. This old man isn't rich or refined or anything, doesn't have a bunch of women around him, just normal, ordinary, the normal poor looking kinda old man (nothing wrong with that). That was this scent is. If you like unique, out of the ordinary, this ain't it. I was like, "man this just smells like all the rest of them normal colognes". If it was more rich smelling than cheap smelling then it would be a must buy. I can't picture a man driving a bentley with this cologne, I could picture the valet wearing this cologne to park the car. After wearing it for an hour or 2, the dry down is a vanilla, the normal vanilla like cologne, big cloud and long lasting. It's allright but, It ain't extremely unique. edit: allright after about a year or 2 of owning this, this is only for cool to cold weather 26° C and less should do fine, and smells good. I live in the caribbean, and this can only be worm when it's raining, cold and when the temperature drops to around 26° C. I can't wear this in hot sun, the scent is too warm and I will literally feel twice as warm. but good for cold weather.

Absolutely amazing... worth buying two at a time so you have a backup.

The product is as described, it lasts long like 8-9 hrs on skin only, the base and middle notes are the strongest, I really love the middle notes, this basically smells to me like an aromatic blend of spices and rum. It’s a sweet smell overall with a punch, you won’t be disappointed plus it’s reasonably priced most of the time. Define lay an autumn winter vibe with this one.
