GREAT FOR DPF CLEANING!
5-STARS This is a review on Liqui Moly Diesel Particulate Filter Protector. I am giving this product a 5-star review. This product decreased regen frequency (good) from previous additive and decreased frequency (good) from baseline, which suggests that it may have cleaned the DPF to some degree or enhances combustion action to burn cleaner. This product has worked the best so far out of all the additives that I have tested. My vehicle has driven farther between regens with this product. This product increased miles between regen intervals than previous additive (Liqui Moly Pro-Line Diesel Cleaner), and increased mileage form baseline figure. As far as mileage goes, vehicle lost mpg by 0.7mpg on uphill route, but gained 2mpg on downhill route. Most of the time, power seemed to increase with less throttle input, but one day the engine seemed a little sluggish. Engine seemed to run about the same as baseline. I did not get any engine error codes while using this product. Liqui Moly Diesel Particulate Filter Protector seems to work very well at cleaning the DPF filter, or at the very least, burns very clean with less soot buildup. I got the longest mileage between regens with this product over all the others. Only exception was Archoil AR6500, but only while towing a heavy load during hot weather, which produced higher EGTs. No check engine lights came on. Vehicle showed no adverse affects from additive. Regen mileage interval with NO additives was 384 miles after receiving vehicle from repair shop and working properly. I used two, 250mL bottles mixed with 34 gallons of fuel. Mileage between regens increased from 384 miles (baseline) to 625 miles (+241 miles increase)(good). The product that I used previously was Liqui Moly Pro-Line Diesel Cleaner. Liqui Moly Diesel Particulate Filter Protector increased interval miles from previous additive(good), 444 miles, to 625 miles (+181 miles)(good) This product is my #1 pick so far as a DPF cleaner. There is no removing any components. Just pour in the tank and drive. Price would add up up as an everyday solution, so not the best choice for everyday use. For everyday use, I would pick Archoil AR6500 at the standard/lower dose for an economical and everyday use. My choices may change as I test more products. When using any DPF cleaner additive, I would try to incorporate a regen cycle during use and go on longer drives on highway or freeway to increase the EGTs to burn off the soot. Driving Notes: 30 miles driven during regeneration cycles Soot down to 3 grams EGTs = 556F temperature, normal highway driving EGTs = 703F temperature during regeneration cycle Injection quantity at idle at baseline=9mm Injection quantity at idle after Liqui Moly Diesel Particulate Filter Protector=7mm #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 Injector balance at baseline: -0.5, 0.1, -0.2, 0.9, -0.6, -0.1, 0.0, 0.4 Injector balance after additive: -1.0, 1.0, -0.1, 0.9, -0.7, 0.1, -0.7, 0.6 Less fuel being used at idle. Small boost in mileage from baseline on downhill route: Decrease (BIGGEST) in regeneration intervals: From baseline: longer distance between intervals +241 miles From previous additive (Liqui Moly Pro-Line Diesel Cleaner): longer distance between intervals +181 miles Injector balance seemed to widen slightly. My review is based on product efficiency, any damages to vehicle, check engine lights turning on or off, ability to clear engine codes (if my vehicle has any check engine lights), increase or decrease in mileage, and increase or decrease in regeneration mileage intervals. I will not use price as a factor. You will have determine if product is worth the cost. These products may or may not save you costly repairs or replacement. I cannot determine if these products can or will damage your vehicle. My vehicle has no check engine light or error codes. My vehicle is in good working order with no current issues during this review. My vehicle has over 200,000 miles. This is a stock vehicle, with a stock (OEM) factory tune installed. Just prior to this test, my truck was not performing a regen cycle. Repairs were done which included a new 9th injector, new DPF pressure monitor. The pressure monitor measures pressure before and after the DPF filter. The difference in pressure allow computer to estimate how much soot has accumulated in the DPF filter. A force regen was also performed on my vehicle and a passive regen performed before I received my vehicle from repair shop. Vehicle is performing as it should. Test drive is relatively the same and consistent. 49.5 miles one way, with a drive time of about 56 minutes. There is a gradual 1129 foot elevation gain one way and 1129 elevation loss the opposite way. There is some surface street driving, some freeway driving, and most of drive is highway. Hope this review helps. I will be writing more reviews on other diesel additives. I have some data from other additives for comparison listed below. Most products seemed to help and a couple seemed to worsened DPF performance during testing. You should not compare the towing data for comparison. I have just added it to show that towing will change data. Towing will increase exhaust gas temperatures and should make the DPF more effective. My regen mileage intervals increased, decreasing regen frequency, while towing. There are many factors that affect the DPF performance. The factors that I noticed (on my vehicle) are outside temperature, humidity, and EGTs. Lower temperatures decreased DPF performance. Higher humidity decreased DPF performance. Higher outside temperatures and lower humidity seem to increase DPF performance. Higher EGTs such as towing increased DPF performance. Longer driving distance seems helps the DPF filter as optimal temperatures are reached. It seems like soot accumulates faster when the engine and DPF filter are not warm/hot enough, and faster within the first 10-15 miles of travel. If you are only making short trips then the DPF will fill up faster and regens will be more frequent. This Liqui Moli additive is only for 2007 diesels and later with a DPF system. DPF Ford problems are for real.
NOT for diesels prior to 2007, or any diesel that does not have a particulate filter. If you do have a DPF in your truck, especially a FORD, by all means use this additive regularly. It won't work miracles, but it might save you a lot of money (think $2500++) and antagonism towards FORD and your truck. In and of themselves, DPF systems are extremely expensive to replace, and are theoretically really not self cleaning regardless of the propaganda to the contrary. IOW, you need special equipment, (which isn't on your truck!) to thoroughly clean rhe DPF, which should occur probably every 100,000 miles. 2008 and later Fords with the 6.4 and 6.7 engines have an available software enhancement to solve some of the issues with the DPF on these engines. However, Ford apparently hasn't solved all of the problems associated with their DPF designs. Don't kid yourself that the DPF can't cause problems.

We'll see...saw.
Just dumped this in. Hope it works. I’m on my third DPF. Stealership replaced the first one for free because diesel gate. Second one got stolen by cat thief. May they all rot in hell one day soon. Ended up paying deductible to replace, around 1 grand. Already it’s throwing codes after less the 2,000 miles. Live in the city (I know, I know) but was expecting to do more highway miles. I guess it’s not getting enough time to regenerate. I’ll report back if that confounded light comes on again or if mileage improves. I also plan on VCDS forced regeneration every 200 miles or so. Doesn’t feel right scoring it before it’s had a chance to do its thing. Problem is, how will I know? If there is more to report, I will update the stars and review. As it is, with more than 200 reviews my 2 star one will only be read by skeptics, and not affect the overall score. Once it proves its effectiveness I’ll be glad to pile on. Driving a 2014 TDI VW Sportwagen, 65,000 miles. 10-8-25, Ran a tank full through on a road trip and the light did not come on. After doing a standing regeneration and clearing the codes of course. I also removed the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculaion) valve and cleaned it after adding the sauce. The "insufiant flow" code kept poping up on previous VCDS scans and I'v always taken that code to mean somthing is wrong with the DPF but I begain to think maybe it was somthing more. I read a sticky EGR valve can throw the code if it's stuck closed. Technically it's a post DPF "differential presure switch" that throws the code. From what I understand this pressure switch tells the ECU if enough exhaust gases are making it through the DPF. Anything that restricts flow can cause this. The EGR opens when the motor is hot enough, but is closed at start up when cold. With the DPF this restricted flow happens when it's filled with sticky unburnt hydrocarbons a.k.a soot. Basicly I'm getting my diagnostic info from google and the TDI forum so do your own research. It's shockingly sad that in this day and age of tech wonders how little good info about diesels can be found on-line that goes beyound the basic or only applies to trucks. It took a lot of digging to learn as much as I have. All that is to say I can't tell for sure that the super sauce had any effect. My milage on a recent road trip did improve a bit, maybe it's doing somthing right? Anyway that's the update. Im upgrading my score to 3 stars as it hasn't caused my motor to melt down. More later if that changes.
