Whink 1281 10OZ Rust/Stain Remover, 10 oz, 10 Ounce Review: Great Stuff...Says Only For White Toilets, But Worked Great On My Light Green... - Wow....This is just what I was looking for...For some reason certain spots inside my toilet bowl get rust stains...Not the whole thing, jut a few streaks here and there...Scrubbing them out is just about the toughest job I have undertaken as far as cleaning anything. I have used scratch pads with bleach, cleansers of all kind, cleaning pads like the Mr Clean ones, and nothing works without a lot, and I mean a lot of hard scrubbing....Figure in the angle of which you have to work under the rim and the fact that it's a toilet you are sticking your hands into and its just about the grossest job around the house..When this stuff arrived I was so anxious to try it I just squirted it directly on the stains and brushed it with a regular toilet brush. The stains started fading almost immediately and with one more application they were gone. I am sure that using a scrub pad with gloves and really applying yourself would have been even faster, but I didn't have any gloves handy at the moment...And I managed to get rid of the stains with just a long handled brush and a couple of squirts...As much as doing this kind of job can be described as easy, I have to say doing it with this stuff is near a pleasure...I'll never be without it again... In conclusion there is one thing that I think I should mention...The bottle specifically states to use it only on white toilets..That didn't stop me for I didn't think this stuff could in any way make my old sea foam colored toilet look any worse, and it didn't. Maybe with a real dark color you would have to test a little spot on it or use something else, but for me it worked perfectly and didn't harm the bowl or color at all. Great stuff at a very reasonable price...Highly recommended.. Review: WILL etch porcelain bathtub or sink - perfect prep for porcelain repair. - Ok - up front - not using exactly as recommended or intended. Have a porcelain tub with a large chip. Sand it, fill with good stuff, cover with porcelain paint - it sticks to the chipped area, but not around it. Needed to prep it out further. Recommenation is Hydroflouric Acid to etch porcelain - which is Whink's active ingredient. It is too thin - but I placed paper towels on & around chip, saturated them with Whink. LET IT SIT 24h. Come back - the rusted area on the chip is clean & better, the porcelain around is etched rough. Wash, dry, sand with rough sand - still very rough etched surface. Filler sticks WELL, particularly where it thins out. Paint sticks to the filler & the roughened porcelain, too. How well it holds up? Time will tell. BUT... if I ever get around to complete tub refinish job - I'll start with Whink to prep the surface. Pro's use a HF acid etchant as prep for such a job - but HF acid is HARD to get - and dangerous - and expensive. This is well diluted, but powerful enough to do the job if you can get it to stick to the surface - saturated paper towels work for small areas, we'll see for larger areas. I do wish it were not a thin liquid, but a gel consistency. Tried it on some simple rust stains (concrete) - poof - gone. Like that. Just gone. For the $ much better than Naval Jelly.

IT WORKS! (No, not the pyramid scam!)
IT DEFINITELY WORKS! We had purchased new baby clothing, sheets, etc. from Amazon recently that were nearly ruined by our dryer. The dryer's felt ring has been getting rusty from the drum edge coating wearing down, constant use, and high moisture content. The new WHITE items were catching in the wet felt ring, and transferring the rust on to them! My GF was BEYOND MIFFED. Now we had set-in rust stains on BRAND NEW baby gear! Found this stuff, ordered, and she tried it. Treated the items twice, with little success - even washed them a second time. Some items came perfectly clean, others I took (still damp) and treated again. Took quite a few treatments, rinsing, then retreating, but ALAS! The stains were almost 100% GONE! She has xray vision, and still sees faint areas, but to the untrained eye, you'd never have known they were stained. Short synopsis: If you get rust on delicates, whites, etc... USE THIS Whink! Slightly dampen, and douse it! New stains disappear right in front of your eyes. Set in stains may take a few treatments, but it'll work!

Whink is perfect for removing rust stains
Whink 1281 10oz Rust/Stain Remover works as described by the seller. I’ve used Whink for many years so it’s my go to product for minor rust stains for many things such as an old hand can opener or sink rust stains. I highly recommend it.

dangerous chemicals but it works well
I am a chemist. recently I was working with iron solution and some got on my shirt and dried up. the result: rust. I bought this rust remover to see what it could do and it works very well. the reason it works is it contains hydrofluoric acid which dissolves the rust quickly. what does this mean for you? first of all use gloves (if you use household gloves use two pairs at a time). acid burns are no joke. second, be careful where you use the rust remover. if you have a metal sink, avoid using it, as it will eat at the metal of the sink with the same zeal that it will remove the stain. use a porcelain sink or tub and make sure it doesn't touch your skin. This is not a soaking solution, you should see the stain come out before your eyes. when it does, immediately run the spot under large amounts of water (or risk the acid leaving you with a nice hole in your clothes). then put it in the laundry before you use it. an alternative method which is much safer is to use a milder acid like lime juice and have it soak into the fabric for an hour or so. it will take longer, but it is cheaper and safer.

Looked great -- so we ordered this
DO NOT USE FOR WATER SPOTS ON VEHICLE WINDOWS. Our used car had acid water spots on windows that would not come off with vinegar, steel wool, rubbing compound, Soft Scrub, Comet or even Acetone. A website advised this product, complete with a video. Looked great -- so we ordered this. Sure, it took off the spots, but it damaged the windows. To be clear: it advises against use on windows. So do not do so. Use Amaz paste instead -- it works great. Takes some elbow grease, but it's the best solution. This is a fine product, but be careful with it!
