Sol Austan Mani Vestan

Sol Austan, Mani Vestan, the latest offering from Varg Vikernes/Burzum, is an electronic instrumental album, the first Burzum album of this type since 1999s Hlidskjalf. It is what some would call a "dark ambient" collection, with several of the eleven tracks possessing a sense of foreboding. It bears some resemblance to Hlidskjalf and the other Burzum instrumental album, the 1997 release Daudi Baldrs. It is built on the Vikernes hallmarks of repeated motifs in songs and connections with Norse ancestral belief.Sol Austan, Mani Vestan may not appear as immediately powerful as Burzum's metal releases, but there is an almost primordial power driving these instrumentals, in spite of the modern instrumentation. Many of these tunes were included in a film, Forebears, by Vikernes and his wife, and the atmospheric qualities of the tracks lend themselves to contemplative mood setting.More than likely, this will not be a popular offering, but what Burzum release has ever been popular? Some fans of ambient music may be turned away by the darkness of many of the tracks, while some metal fans may miss the guitars and vocals of the metal releases. But, hopefully, Sol Austan, Mani Vestan will receive a fair hearing and receive some recognition of its artistic merits.

Amazon service was fantastic! I received earlier than I expected.I am a big fan of Burzum so the music never disapoints me. So, great sound but I expected more from the production of the cd itself....cover, art, inserts, all very poor.

What to say about Burzum?I simply call this a Masterpiece, nothing to say beyond, really.

garbage, total garbage, just noises & midi stuff. dont even waste the hard drive space on this. if you wanna buy it to complete a collection, fine, but you will NEVER listen to this all the way through....its that bad. JUST GARBAGE ! Burzum is another band to go 6 feet under. varg is a moron

and his family fight the fascist French Government from their unlawful, unjust, unwarranted arrest of Varg and his wife.I've been following this story since it began and I view the Ancestral Cultural website he and his wife created.What's obvious to anyone with a brain is he's being harassed by the despicable French government over Vikernes and his wife's theories on race and evolution and that's about it.Varg Vikernes served his full sentence in Norway for terminating that low life freak Euronomous and burning down some churches that should have never been built their by the Christians in the first place. This don't justify what he did when he was young and stupid, he's paid for it, now the cowardly French government are using him to divert attention away from the real problems in France. This is a typical politicians maneuver which has been used by every government in the world especially here in the U.S.A. to Get everyone's attention away from the real problems going on until the elections are over and won.They unlawfully froze Vikernes's bank account and now Paypal refuses to sell their DVD'S (thanks to the French created controversy) making it impossible for Vikernes and his wife to support their 4 children and themselves.He's asking the supporters of his music and websites to help him fight the entire French government, which if you ask me is a lost cause, once you've been targeted by a corrupt government or corrupt anything it's practically hopeless to get any real justice. Believe me it happens everywhere in life, at work, in the office. Theirs politics in every type of environment now.I was targeted in work by a group of employees some I've known since my employment and lost a job I had for 30 years, so I know what I'm talking about.This guy has done nothing against the law in France since he moved there, his wife who's French legally bought some hunting rifles and registered them in the village they live in where most of the people there hunt. This is the excuse the French used to fire shots through his front door of the house they rent while they slept with their children early in the morning.Varg's been labeled a Neo Nazi but I find it ironic that the French police are acting like the German Gestapo and the French government is acting like the Third Reich.Buy this CD and help support him even if you despise him.This could happen to anyone at any time and in any country now, especially here in the U.S.A.Hail Odin!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have and always will follow Varg and his continuous work throughout his career. I find any album release strictly comprised of keyboard work to be refreshing.

I had been rather disappointed with the previous Burzum album, Umskiptar. It very much felt like Varg had left the musical territory that he was comfortable with in branching out into melodic folk metal. With this album, he returns to ambient noise, a genre in which he is far more familiar and he does a great job with it.I am really disappointed that so many fans are moaning about Burzum doing an ambient album. This stuff is really good. He has improved considerably from his earlier ambient efforts.This music just feels so unearthly. It takes one to an whole new world. Like the best Burzum tracks, it awakens parts of the mind one does not normally use and unlocks forgotten dreams.There are hints of Vinterriket here as well as Delerium.

Ich kann verstehen wenn es Leute gibt, die mit dieser Art Musik nichts anfangen können. Wer schon Hlidskjalf und Daudi Baldrs öde fand, wird das auch über SAMV sagen.Mir, als jmd. der die o.g. Werke durchaus genossen hat, gefällt die Scheibe, beziehungsweise Schriben sehr gut. Es ist nun mal keine Musik, die man auf Partys oder nur mal so hört. Es ist Musik die man hört, um zu entspannen. Oder im Wald zu wandern, für lange Autofahrten. Ich empfand es jedes Mal sehr inspirierend, den Klängen zu lauschen.PS: den Film dazu finde ich jedoch überaus öde!

Un progetto dark ambient oscuro e minaccioso composto da un tappeto di tastiere con ricami di organza con chitarra e strumenti a percussione.Il primo ascolto potrà apparire ostico ma vi consiglio di perseverare nell'ascolto. Il conte vi trasporterà nel mondo degli avi dimenticati.
