Yes, label from Abbott Lab states "Gluten-Free; suitable for Lactose Intolerance Not suitable for Galactosemia". Hope this helps

These shakes have 6-8 more carbs & less than 1/2 the protein than the Ensure High Protein shakes I'd been drinking. What is the benefit over Ensure?

These are "good carbs", ones that are engineered to enter your blood slowly and not cause a spike, then drop. You need some carbs, even as a diabetic, because carbs = energy, and also low spikes can be almost as bad for your pancreas as high spikes. Glucerna keeps everything moderated and in balance. Decent amount of protein for long term hunger management, small amount of healthy carbs for energy. If i wake up starving, or know i will be due to a trip or appointment, I go for a Glucerna to get some good carbs in me and some protein for a slower release. If i wake up full (i have dawn syndrome), I use a 30g protein, 1g carb product i have. These fill a huge gap tho, as drinking that massive protein shake does *nothing* to curb hunger for a long time, and I had some rough days when i woke hungry and did not have glucerna. you end up in bed w low blood sugar, or eating "regular food" and their carbs that cause spikes.
