This classic touring tire from Schwalbe has incredible puncture resistance and durability. With design goals similar to the Specialized Armadillo, the newly developed smart guard puncture protection belt is made of flexible special rubber that offers particular resistance to thorns and shards. It also has a reflective stripe on the sidewall for enhanced visibility.

13 year-old rubber
Schwalbe tires are among the best brands available. This one-star review is NOT to reflect on the tire maker, but on the supplier. The two tires I received had the manufacture date stamp inside the tires of 2007 !!! THIRTEEN YEARS OLD RUBBER !!!I’ll not bother to return them; I have no plans for a cross-country tour, nor biking in remote areas. This one-star review is to get the attention of you avid bike riders.Because you are reading this, shows you to be wise; read the negative reviews to learn the issues others have had. In reading these pages you have seen reviews stating premature blow-outs, and greatly diminished tire wear. Both are symptoms of OLD rubber.Being wise to have read the reviews, don’t be foolish as I was to have relied on the good name of Schwalbe. Check your local bike shops for your tires. You may pay a little more, but, consider that insurance to have the advantage to check the manufacturing date of the tire. To insure you DON’T get thirteen year old rubber !!!It would be a good bet that this supplier bought-out some distributors ‘old stock’ for pennies-on-the-dollar. Let HIM eat his investment, not you.Even if you’re not an avid rider, but, merely a ride in the park with the grandkids kinda guy, as me, don’t throw your money away !!!See the date stamp in the attached photo, both tires had the same stamp. (My witness is also in the picture.)

coast2coast - zero flats!!
Just finished the coast to coast TransAmerica bike route, 4,500 miles over 93 days. NO flats, did not even rotate the tires. Fully loaded, my weight plus 49 pounds of gear, and the tires still look good, worn but good. Can not recommend them enough!!

only 1300 mile on these, very sad to have a blow out. My rear is doing the same thing.
I bought 2 of Schwalbe Marathon GG RLX Wire Bead Tire (700X28)this is the second set, the first set I got 9000 miles on them, never had a problem with them. My second set of these I bought in December 22 2017 I have put only 1277 miles on them, the front blew out sitting on my bike rack after an 80 mile bike ride on bike paths the whole ride. I only air them up to 85 PSI, the tire is rated to 110 PSI. Why would this blow out on the side wall, it looks like the tire just separated on the inside of the tire. The tail end of the ride the tire had a wobble to it, kind of hard to see the tire I have fenders on this bike. The rear has that slight wobble to it too, looking it over close I can see where the tread is worn out more in spot on the tire. I'm guessing this tire will blow out soon too. I paid good money for these and to only have them last under 1300 miles is ridiculous! This bike is my commuter bike mainly but goes on long rides on the weekends. I only ride on the streets very little, Denver has a ton of bike paths and that's where I ride.I want to know what you're going to do about this?

Excellent for a hybrid bike
Bike: 2004 K2 Zed 1.0Tire Size: 26" x 2"Use: Mountain bike turned road and path bikeWhen I pulled these tires out of the box (they were shipped flat and in the round, not folded), I could feel the quality of manufacture. Others have mentioned that these tires are not exactly light, and that's true. But they are solid and have nice, firm sidewalls. I had no trouble popping these onto my rims without the use of tools. They ride great. I'm not a daily bike commuter, but I ride around the neighborhood, on paved bike trails, and sometimes on hard-pack or gravel. These tires have performed satisfactorily on all.

Best Bike Tires I've Ever Used....
The item received was: Marathon HS420 B/B+RT (Art-No: 11100007). To be honest, I did not know that bike tires could be this good! The quality is phenomenal, and the ride so smooth and secure. To echo another review, they seem more like motorcycle tires, and cannot really even be compared to my previous tires. The old tires were soft, wobbly and I was getting flats at least every month. The rolling resistance on these is outstanding and has reduced fatigue and give a feeling of confidence when far from home and or help. Installed easily in a few minutes, just make sure to seat the tires on the rim by inflating to around 20psi. Then stop and push the tire on both sides to make sure it is evenly seated around the entire rim, then inflate to full pressure. You won't be disappointed....

Bad is that the tire is so thick it feels ...
Thick tire that seems extremely puncture resistant. I've been riding on slick light weight tires for the last 5 years but have recently started riding on rougher/dirtier terrain that resulted in numerous flats and sliced tires so I made the switch. Bad is that the tire is so thick it feels like it's drifting on turns(maybe rolling of the thick tread) but does roll easy going straight and is puncture resistant so I like it. May not be the tire for a rider that consistently goes faster than 20-25 MPH. I usually average 17-22 depending on motivation.

Great tires!
Got these for my Surly LHT 54 CM frame- the 2" tires seem to leave lots of clearance, so you could go larger. I commute daily about 10 miles on these, and the extra volume of air in these really helps with the bumpy streets in San Fran. Going straight they are nice and smooth, and there's a very subtle choppiness (took many miles before I noticed it) when turning which I guess is just the tread of the tire giving you a little extra traction on curves and turns. My commute is as bad as it gets with potholes, glass, railroad and trolley tracks, and washboarded roads that could shake the bike right out of your hands- these are great tires. Update 4/30/17: I've now been commuting a year and a half on these, about 10 miles a day and I finally got a glass puncture in West Oakland. It was a spike shaped piece of glass and I think it took a few miles before it was driven through the tire; there was no immediate flat- I got home fine and noticed the flat on Sunday night. What's really impressive is that I had to use pliers to pull that piece of glass out of the tire- and it wasn't easy! I wish Schwalbe made car tires:)

Perfectly sized tyre, after horendous time with an alternative. Highly recommended.
This is what I would call a medium range standard road tyre for general use.. There are plenty of other reviews that reflect upon it's service use. This review simply focuses on it's ease of fit, which was the main reason for buying it, and it was simply brilliant. It went on first time with no problems at all. See below for longer explanation. Clearly different manufacturers have a range of tolerances, but this Schwalbe was a perfect fit for me.I needed to replace a worn out tyre/inner tube combination and initially went for my normal brand (Continental touring plus). This was the first time I had needed to change a tyre on this particular rim and it turned into a nightmare, with constantly pinching the inner tube no matter what I did - and yes I do know what I'm doing having been changing tyres for nearly 40 years of cycling!. I went through three inner tubes and the tyre was on and off the wheel like a yo-yo. The tyre was nominally the correct size but was extremely tight. Eventually in my frustration I damaged the beading on the perfectly new tyre and needed to purchace yet another replacement. Upon investigation it became apparent that this particular rim had a lower upstand than others so that may have caused some seating problems for the tyre. Never the less I needed an alternative and opted to try he Schwalbe. Absolutely fantastic. A perfect fit and no seating worries on the rim. Within 10 mins of opening the package the tyre was fitted and ready to roll. Also fantastic service from Baldwins who supplied the tyre. Immediately re-ordered for further replacements for future use.

A solid constructed tyre that feels like it will last
Great tyre, riden the last 3 weeks with one on my rear of my Brompton no punctures yet. Able to put 110psi into it (it’s the max) gives good ride and great grip. As it’s only 1.35 you will notice if you haven’t put enough air in it, it will give you a wallowy feel. I would imagine most folk will need to run it at around 100psi which easily obtainable with a track pump, a little more effort with a hand pump. Pretty tough to get on the first time, it stretched a little but still tight, that said hopefully once it’s on you never have to take it off. I had to do mine twice as I didn’t see the ‘Direction of Rotation’ ... doh!!. Overall a great tyre and a perfect addition to any Brompton.Update: Got one for my front wheel now as well, it was soooo hard to fit, I had to do it with a metal tyre levers, Schwalbe 16X1 1/8-1 3/8 Tube presta AV4 (which I would recommend) and swearing!!I have now run with the rear for over 4 months, no punctures and I ride 13miles a day through the parks and roads of London, I'd say that is a good test. I have them at 110psi, it's hard but fast.I would definitely buy again and recommend to anyone with a Brompton needing replacements!!

Brilliant Schwalbe Marathons
I replaced the big knobbly Maxxis Advantage tyres on my Boardman urban MTB with these Schwalbe Marathons. The difference is amazing on the Stevenage bike paths, almost silent running, smoother ride, easier to pedal and longer freewheeling. I was a bit worried about reports of being hard to fit but I fitted the tyre on my rear wheel with only my hands and had to use a Schwalbe tyre lever once to get the tyre seated on my front wheel. So I think they are a doddle to fit.Love the white reflecting stripe on the side too, shouldn't all bike tyres have them??

Excellent product. It's a bit hard to put on ...
no more punctures!! at all. Excellent product. It's a bit hard to put on and off, but that's expectable as it is meant to be a super hardcore tyre. Actually you don't need much strength but a good technique, it requires a little bit of practise. Perfromance wise, they are absolutely a must if you live in a city. In Leeds I used to have a puncture every week with so much glass and debris on the road, since having these tyres (a year on now), I had no puncture. 5 stars

Transformed my folding bike!
These tyres have transformed my folding bike. Following 8 years of slithering along slippery canal towpaths on the bike's original 1" smooth road tyres, along with poor advice that chunkier tyres wouldn't fit, I bought just one to try - and what a difference. With this 1.75" tyre on the front wheel and the original 1" on the rear, I immediately noticed how much grippier it was so ordered a second. Both were easy to fit taking just a few minutes per wheel for a complete amateur. Now the bike offers a smoother, grippier ride on all surfaces including wet grass, grit, gravel and light mud. The bike feels more stable, less wobbly and justI've even taken it over finely broken grass and a few small thorns without suffering any punctures - the 5/7 puncture resistance rating seems genuine. For anyone with a folding bike, I highly recommend these tyres. They'll add a little to the bike's weight for carrying but this is more than offset by the improved ride quality and confidence in knowing the tyres will handle a range of surfaces and offer good puncture resistance too. My only regret is that I waited all these years and didn't change them within weeks of buying the bike.
