Q: what material is the ring?

The ring is aluminum and glass. Had one on my 150 - 500mm lens last year and while exiting the car, the camera stap slid down my arm hitting the ground, lens first. The filter shattered but my lens remained in tact. Excellent purchase.

Q: will this work with a canon 24-70 mm lense?

The 24-70mm lens requires a 77mm filter.

Q: Is anyone else getting fuzzy images with this filter?

Yes! This filter causes fuzzy images and background distortion in my Tamron 150-600mm, especially at the longer focal lengths.
