Real photos, bright colors and thick pages
This is such a nice addition to my 1-year-old’s first little library. The pages are nice and thick, basically impossible for her to rip apart, which is definitely important at this age :)) I personally love all the bright colors and real photos, I definitely prefer those to unrealistic drawings. The size is great too, my daughter can easily hold it by herself and sit there “reading” and flipping through the pages whenever she feels like it. It’s also small enough to throw in a diaper bag and take with us. Simple, colorful, sturdy and very age appropriate. We really like this one!

Perfect 1st book.
I recently received First 100 Words: A Padded Board Book, and it has quickly become the most-reached-for item on our bookshelf. If you have a curious toddler at home, this book is an absolute essential for their early development. Here is why this book is a winner in our house: Durability Meets Comfort: The padded cover is a genius touch. It’s soft enough for little hands to grip easily, but tough enough to survive the inevitable "toddler life" (dropping, tossing, and the occasional teething chew). Sturdy Board Pages: The thick pages are perfect for helping toddlers develop their fine motor skills. My little one can easily turn the pages themselves without them tearing or getting bent. Vibrant Visuals: The photos are bright, clear, and feature real-life objects. This helps immensely with object recognition, as kids can easily connect the pictures in the book to the things they see around the house. Vocabulary Building: It’s organized into great categories (like animals, clothes, and food), which makes it a fantastic tool for language milestones. We spend so much time pointing and naming, and I can already hear those first words starting to click! The Perfect Size: It’s compact enough to toss into a diaper bag, making it a lifesaver for keeping a toddler entertained (and learning!) during car rides or at doctor's appointments. It’s simple, educational, and incredibly engaging. Seeing the look of pride on my toddler's face when they recognize a "duck" or an "apple" is worth every penny.

Recommended, but be prepared...
First of all, my daughter absolutely loved this book. It was her favorite book from about 9-14 months of age. She literally wanted to look at it every day. It was great! What more could a parent ask for? Well, I'll tell you our qualms about it. It seems outdated. Very outdated. Most of the pictures look like they are from the 80's and 90's. The clothing pictures are the worst. For example, children no longer wear pajamas that look like the ones pictured in this book. The slippers look like ones I may have worn when I was a child. There are also several photos that I just skip over when I am reading it to my little one because I don't want to confuse her, or I end up naming the photo something different than the author did. There is a picture of a crib mobile for example. Does anyone use those anymore? To make it worse, it is an outdated photo of a mobile. There is also a photo of a toy boat that is even unfamiliar to me. It looks like something my mother may have played with as a child? The farm animal pages are also confusing to a one year old. The author did not choose photos that look like a common sheep, goat, lamb, etc. So, it took a long time for my daughter to learn them. I know this because she had been quick to learn the names of these same animals in other books, but in this book would give the farm animals a puzzled look and point to the wrong ones when asked. Now, at 17-months of age, the pictures in this book are a lot less confusing to her. However, it also doesn't interest her as much as it used to. All in all, I believe she loved this book because of the many colors and photos and I would recommend it because it did help her to learn a lot of words. Unfortunately, my spouse and I dreaded reading it because of the poor photos. I hope they update it soon!

Great size for baby to hold!
"First 100 Words" by Roger Priddy is a padded board book that's become a staple in our home for teaching my toddler basic vocabulary. Its design and content make it an excellent tool for early language development. The Good: Durable Construction: The padded cover and thick board pages ensure this book can withstand the rough handling that often comes with toddlers. It's built to last through numerous readings and the occasional chew or drop. Educational Content: With 100 basic words spread across clear, colorful images, this book covers a wide range of vocabulary from animals to household items. It's organized in themes, making it easy for children to learn related words together. Engaging Visuals: The illustrations are bright and simple, perfect for capturing and holding a young child's attention. Each page is packed with pictures, providing plenty of opportunities for interaction and learning. Interactive Learning: My child loves pointing to the images as we name them, turning the book into an interactive learning session. It's not just about reading; it's about talking, pointing, and engaging with the content. The Not-So-Good: Limited Complexity: As with any book aimed at very young children, the vocabulary is basic, which is both its strength and limitation. Once a child has mastered these words, you'll need to move on to more advanced books. Size Consideration: While the padding makes it durable, it also makes the book a bit bulky, which might be less convenient for travel or smaller spaces. Overall: "First 100 Words" is an exemplary board book for infants and toddlers starting their journey into language. Its durability, engaging visuals, and well-chosen words make it a must-have for any young child's library. Pros: Robust, child-friendly construction Wide-ranging, theme-based vocabulary introduction Visually stimulating with clear, colorful images Encourages interactive learning Cons: Vocabulary is basic, suitable mainly for beginners Slightly bulky due to the padded cover Conclusion: If you're looking to introduce your child to the world of words, this book is an investment in their early education. It's not only a tool for learning but also a durable, enjoyable book that can withstand the test of time and toddlerhood.

Delayed delivery
This has always been my, now 2 yr old, granddaughter's go to book. I ordered it to take to a baby shower on Sunday, it was suppose to arrive on Saturday. It did not, very disappointed in shipping delay. It was $4, it would cost me $4 to drive to UPS store to return it. I will donate to my library. I am only giving 5 stars because it is a loved book.

Great book!
For the price point this is a must have item. My baby gets excited when I pull it out. When looking through the book it offers great visuals and promotes topic to discuss with a baby of any age. This would be an excellent gift but I purchased it myself and have been enjoying it with my child.

Livro favorito da minha filha de 1 ano e meio
Excelente livro. É o favorito da minha filha de 1 ano e meio. O fato de as palavras estarem escritas em inglês não atrapalha. As imagens são bonitas e falamos em português com ela. Depois, quando ela crescer, poderá utilizar o livro como um iniciação às palavras em inglês.
