Old Hickory 705 Old Hickory Kitchen Knife 5 piece Set

I got this set for my daughter (29 years old) and her husband. They had crapola, dull and hard to sharpen stainless and cheap!My set is over 30 years old and scary sharp! But must be maintained, oiled, washed and dried immediately after each use! Never ever put in a washing machine...ever!

For me, buying the Old Hickory knives was a blast from my past. My grandparents always had them in the house. Grandpa wouldn't have any other kind of cutlery. My family was getting to the point to where we needed to buy some new silverware (knives, forks and spoons). As I looked around I couldn't find anything I liked. Then I came across the Old Hickory Knife Set and knew I was buying it. I am pleased to say that when I saw them, they were as good as the ones grandpa bought years ago. The knife blade is made of steel, it won't flex like some knives do these days. I think some knives are made from aluminum or something. Not the Old Hickory knife. It's made to last. I was also pleased to see that it sliced through the holiday turkey dinner with ease. This is a good quality item. I'm sure they'll be around for a long time.

I got a set of these same knives in 1975 as a wedding gift. The dishwasher and time made me want a second New set. These do corrode in the dishwasher, but even after 40 years the corrosion was NOT that bad. You do need to resharpen if you must use the dishwasher. You can get a VERY sharp edge on these knives. The largest knife from my original set is being used to cut plant root balls up into new plants. You need a sharp knife for that job!

These knives are very similar to the old hickory knives my grandma had. Good set of quality knives. The knives hold their edge and sharpen easily. But I wish they would have shipped with tip protectors on the knives.

I remembered using these knives because mom &dad had a couple in the kitchen. And now I bought a set for my household. I am not disappointed at all. These are great knives for the money. Great quality, good steal, Very sturdy,& they hold an edge for a long time. I liked them then... I love them now. And I know that they will last a good long time

I had one of these knives and realized that it was the only one I used. I decided to buy more and throw away my old knives. This set of knives gives you every size you'll need and will last forever. I'm very pleased with them.

I’ve used old hickory knives since childhood. They are my most favorite knives to use. They are very durable and they keep an edge really well. I love the thickness of the handle because my hand doesn’t cramp up when I have to use these for any length time. I highly recommend them to anybody.

Too much effort to keep the rust and corrosion off! Too thick, hard to cut with, doesn't slide easley thru meat!
