Pros: small footprint on my kitchen countertop no batteries to replace so much better than a manual sharpener!!!! less wasted pencil from broken points less time wasted twisting a pencil in a manual sharpener my kids appreciate the fun colors my kids can easily sharpen their own pencils and colored pencils reasonable price easy to empty shavings reservoirCons: the variable point selector is not very effective. If you choose to hold the pencil in longer, the point sharpens beyond the selected point sharpness.I don't have any other cons. We're very happy with the pencil sharpener.

I bought this to use with my Premiere colored pencils. They are notorious for splitting wood, broken leads, and a whole host of other issues that are exacerbated by using a handheld sharpener. But, we all put up with it because of the quality while on a budget. That being said, we have all been told at one point or another that electric sharpeners get clogged up with the soft leads of these pencils and that it splinters the wood, so not to use them. Well, this little sharpener eliminates all of the "user induced" problems as well as the issues caused by poor manufacturing the past few years. It doesn't get gunky like the handhelds do, nor does it splinter the wood or crack the leads. Sharpens fantastically, actually. It's nice, fine "school sharpener" style shavings and it doesn't break your leads off if you want them super pointy unless you press too hard.I had a few pencils that had their wood severely fractured from a handheld sharpener, and wanted to see how this guy would do with them. Handled them like a champ! It cleaned up the wood and I was able to save the pencils from utter ruin. It's a great little sharpener all in all. It's quiet, really does do the 3 levels of sharpness, and it's very easy to clean. I would buy this little guy again and will recommend it to anyone that say they are in need of a quality sharpener.

In general, this sharpener is good so far BUT I will give you what I didn't like:1. This sharpener doesn't have automatic stop. I did this experience and the half of the pencil was gone! If you have kids , it is an issue because they don't know how long is enough to sharpen a pencil.2. The clear case on the front that hold the shaving is not big and also very difficult to empty the messy because the opening is very small. The storage for itself is small but the opening is a quarter of this!!3. This sharpener is made in China. I don't trust in Chinese products!4. I got the green sharpener BUT the color displayed on the advertisement is yellow. In fact , the seller describes green but I only realized that when I got it.5. It is not too strong. I feel like it's going to "die" if I press too much the pencil on the hole.6. To be honest, I didn't see big difference between the first two settings level (blunt and medium) on my pencil lead.Once again, this sharpener is not bad BUT could be better.

It's quieter than expected and will hopefully last a while. I had thought from the image that I was ordering a purple cup sharpener (should have read the description). It's black and grey, light weight, with a good length cord. I hope it lasts--my previous sharpener--Xacto--lasted less than year. I have not tried different length settings though my daughter may for her art pencils.UPDATE: six months later and not only does it still do a great job; I have ordered a second one. My daughter needed a sharpener (she likes to draw) so I told her she could take mine. I didn't think I used it very often. After a couple of weeks, I realized I needed my own. I've ordered a second, and it works just as well as the first---which is getting tons more use and still sharpening like a charm. Very satisfied!

This thing worked like a champ. My young home schooled sons LOVE to color and we go through large quantities of colored pencils. Never burnt out. Works even better on normal pencils.The poor thing finally died when my 6 year old wasn't careful in removing the plastic to empty it and he broke it. Doesn't' work without the intact plastic shavings case correctly installed (for obvious safety reasons).

I have this pencil sharpener, in pink, on my desk at school. It's a teacher-only situation, but I do go through a lot of pencils. I do not sharpen anything but regular #2 pencils - not colored pencils. I have not used this on battery power - only plugged in. Here's what I love: it's easy to see when the shavings bin is full and needs to be emptied; this gets pencils super sharp - no flat spots; the sharpener stops when my pencil is sharp. There is some adjustment for how you like pencils sharpened, but I haven't messed with that. It works perfectly out of the box. This little gem is heavier than expected. It doesn't take up much space. I am buying another one to have at home.

- The Magno Sharpener is already proving to be a fabulous addition to my art bag, I can take it _anywhere_. I did a great deal of research, looking for just the right sharpener - and there are so many out there, with such a confusing array of options. This one had everything I needed. I especially love the fact that it can be powered off a USB or AC connection - or it can go completely cordless. In addition, it gives you whatever style of point you need, from very sharp to a 'flat-topped' point. I'm using mostly solid graphite art pencils, but also standard wood pencils. It is very quiet. And I love the excellent quality of the sharpening mechanism. This isn't just a single blade stuck in a housing. It's a spiral edged precision machined sharpening tool. It was on my wish list for a while because of the cost, but it was completely worth the investment.
