Excellent Value
Cannot say enough positive things about this item: accurately counts steps and efficiently measures pulse and keeps excellent time. . . Best of all can be worn on wrist. I have been counting steps for almost a year now and have tried several different pedometers. . . Because I often wear skirts and dresses (John is my husband and does not wear skirts and dresses (:), I found the pedometers designed to be attached to waist bands very frustrating; in contrast, I wear this pedometer 24/7 except in the shower and for the dressiest of occasions. Keeping track of steps has proven to be an excellent motivator to get up and move and has been very helpful in learning which activities provide the best cardio benefits. Although I am not generally good with gadgets, I found the instructions to be simple and set up to be easy.

Nicely designed, easy to use, BUT...
In an age in which everything is so complicated (menus within menus, pull-downs, pop-ups, etc.) it was refreshing to purchase an item that is so well-designed and simple to use. I purchased it just to monitor my pulse rate while exercising (on my doctor's recommendation) and to get a rough idea of how far I walk on an average day. This watch is not as accurate as the expensive (GPS) models, but, for the price, it was perfect for my needs. My only complaints (after using it for about a month): sometimes I have to try 3 or 4 times before getting a pulse reading (the watch has to be positioned just right over your wrist) and the end of the wrist band doesn't stay put because the loop moves around. But I'm happy with it for my purposes. If you want absolute precision, this watch is not for you; but if you don't want to spend a lot of money and just want to monitor your pulse and distance walked to get a general idea of how you're doing, I think this watch is fine.P.S. The day after I posted my glowing review, the right side of the screen on the watch went out (i.e. the last digit on each readout has disappeared). I've had it less than a month and have taken care of it (i.e. I didn't drop it or anything). I guess this is yet another in a long line of "made-in-China" disappointments: well-designed but poorly manufactured.

Excellent Value
Although I haven't gotten into the sports watch area before, my initial experience with this watch has been excellent. It is very simple to set up, with good, concise instructions, and seems to be fairly accurate. I was looking for something simple and straightforward, so this really fits the bill nicely, and the price was much lower than other comparable watches. The band works OK but could be improved, as the end of the band usually becomes unsecured after some use and catches on sleeves, etc. I'd like to see Velcro used instead My wife liked it as well and had me order one for her.

This watch will prove that you do not actually exist
I bought this primarily because I wanted a pedometer. I walked for a few miles and it said I took 17 steps. Giving the watch the benefit of the doubt, I assumed that I was dreaming; the walk was an illusion.I changed the "advanced setting" to make it more sensitive. I walked some more. It said I took zero steps, but apparently burned some calories. Again, giving this watch the benefit of the doubt, I assumed that I was stuck in some sort of Cartesian nightmare.I began flapping my arms while hopping about, desperately hoping that it would acknowledge that I was alive and moving. Still zero steps. Giving the watch the benefit of the doubt, I assumed that I was long deceased, and had come back as a ghost to gallivant about while wearing an unfashionable timepiece. In conclusion, the watch works perfectly well. It will prove whether or not you are delusional, stuck in a Cartesian nightmare, or a ghost. I would recommend this product if you are skeptical about existence.

Quite a good product, and at $15 it's a steal!
I bought this primarily for the Heart Rate monitor. I had a Smart Health product for nearly 10 years and finally band broke. Smart Health method for heart rate is easy, accurate (checked against my BP monitor), and fast. Even if you buy this just to be a waterproof watch, you can't go wrong. Paces counted seems reasonably accurate. Distance ...so far, I think it reads low. I docked one star, because it came with a weak battery. All functions worked, but the HR was unreliable. I installed a new battery ( I have lots of these 50 cent items), and now HR is great. My guess is the stock is old, so battery maybe weak....regardless, I love it, and even at $30 I would have bought it!

I LOVED it while it continued to work
I LOVED it while it continued to work. On Dec. 6th. the digital readouts started to disappear. Unfortunately for me I was past the 30 day return period for the item. Now I have a watch/pedometer that is useless. The upside is it was a gift and therefore I am not out any money. The obvious DOWNSIDE it's a piece of garbage from the vendor Amazon does business with. Fortunately I am otherwise very satisfied with all of my past purchase experiences from Amazon and will not let this one unacceptable incidence chase me away from them. However I will be more judicious in my future purchases.

Difficulties
The watch is sturdy, yet light on your wrist. It is difficult to set the time: it moves quickly and goes past the number, then it's hard to get back to the time that you want. The same thing happened when putting in my age so it is set 2 years more than it should be.The biggest problem is the distance in miles does not seem correct. When using the treadmill, the watch shows .4 of a mile when the treadmill shows 1 mile. When I use it on walks in the neighborhood, it seems a lot less also. I raised the sensitivity of the steps to the Hi setting as it advised for undercounting steps, but that did not help. *The distributor has agreed to exchange it, so I'll see if this one was defective or if they all measure incorrectly.
