Good with Sony Bravia Theatre Quad system!
I got two sets of stands (4 units), added a few silicone pads and Velcro cables ties via Amazon, and now have perfect mounts for the four Quad speakers. The stands are high quality, easy to assemble and versatile. Mounting Dream MD5042-2 speaker stands can be a good solution for mounting Sony Bravia Theatre Quad speakers. Cost is now about $80 for two stands; I got two sets via Amazon and added a couple items to get the kind of mounting I wanted. The stands allow for multiple mounting approaches, but the Quads are of unusual design, so I added two items below for mounting the Quads (I mounted the Quads with their Sony table-stands attached): 1. Rubber mounting pads: Hudson Hi-Fi 1" Platinum Silicone Isolation Dot, Non-Skid Isolation Feet - With adhesive back - 20 Duro - 16 Pack (via Amazon, $18). Stick four dots on top plate of each stand to support the Quad-stands (align dots with edge of mounting plate). 2. Cable ties: VELCRO Brand ECO Collection | 5 Inch Small Straps for Cords | Reusable Cable Ties | 3/8" Wide, Black, 50 Pac (also from Amazon, about $12). Thread 4 cables ties through the four, 4mm slots in the speaker mounting plate and tighten to secure the speakers on top of the isolation dots. Make sure you’ve installed power cord before mounting speaker. The Mounting Dream speaker height is adjustable and the plastic base-feet are adjustable to correct for uneven floors. The base is “domed” so excess speaker power cord can be coiled and hidden under the base plate. The speaker power cord is hidden inside the support tube. One needs to pull the speaker-end of power cord up through vertical support tube (internal structure of tube prevents gravity feed of speaker-end of power cord). I used an electrician’s fish-tape wire-puller. Something like an undone wire coat hanger would also work. I used twist-ties (from plastic food bags) to temporarily attach the power cord to the fish tape for the pull-thru. Note that the Mounting Dream speaker mounting plate is barely large enough to accommodate the Sony-stand, so use care in aligning silicone dots and speaker base. The isolation dots should align with edge of the mounting plate. You won’t need the MD5042 “Speaker Attachment Unit” using the mounting approach described here (you’d only need this if using back-of-speaker mounting hole … a whole different, off-centerline mounting method).

Perfect for Q990D Speakers
These fit the Q990D speakers perfectly. Setup was easy and the hidden cable management tubing makes the whole setup a lot more discreet in the living room. Build quality is a hefty, sturdy metal, have had a few weeks now running vacuums over and so forth and no scratches display. This stand allowed me to shift speakers behind sofa and to a proper height, which unlocked the surround sound bubble of the Q990D.

Sturdy Stands for Q990D Rears
I use these stands for the rears on my Q990D soundbar set and they work great. They are for sturdy and I don't fear any of my rowdy children knocking them over (though I do make it a point that if they get anywhere near my speakers, they should assume the worst). Assembly was easy and routing the power cords through the poles wasn't that difficult. Perfect stands for the time being until my wife eventually asks me to buy wall mounts. Yes, honey!

Sturdy. Works with Sony SA-RS5 with aftermarket screws
A well built, easy to assemble, adjustable height stand. As other Sony SA-RS5 reviews have noted, you need to go to a hardware store and purchase 5mm screws. As I wanted to mount the speaker right away, I used the keyhole screw to attach the speaker. The problem with this method, and even with a 5mm screw set up, as you tighten it down the sliding rod bends and kicks the bottom of the speaker away from the bar. Two Tips: One, borrowed from Jamie, another reviewer, was to saw off the bottom of the support loop. After ensuring that I had the speaker where I wanted it, and making sure that the support rod was flat against the speaker, I simply wrapped a piece of scotch tape at the bottom of the lower support (the one with 2 screws), removed the support from the speaker and hack sawed it off about 1/16 inch above the tape. I filed any sharp edges. I didn't paint the exposed metal as cutting it above the tape line the support rod is completely hidden withing the bracket. Do yourself a favor. Cut the rod. It's ugly as sin hanging below the speaker. Tip 2: I cut the included plastic spacers in half with a coping saw and then sanded any burrs. I only eyeballed the center and it worked out. I then took the "half" spacer and placed it between the speaker and the support rod. I used a 5mm x 16 cap head screw as they're black and match the stand. This size screw allowed 3 to 4 good thread bites into the speaker which firmly supported it. A 5mm x 20 screw would offer more bite but isn't necessary. If you buy a cap head screw, you'll need a smaller sized allen wrench than the one included with the stand. Using the 1/2 spacer enabled the bar to sit completely flat against the speaker with no bend or kick out. If you don't want to cut the included spacer, use a 1/2" hard rubber spacer from a big box store. They'd be in the specialty hardware section. You may even find them here on Amazon. I wasn't crazy about the plastic feet so I attached felt pads to them. This helped to protect the hardwood floor and gave the added benefit of allowing the power cord to be placed anywhere under the stand bottom. If you have Sony SA-RS5 speakers, you'll need to purchase 5mm screws to secure them to the stand, but these are great, solid, stable stands and worth the money.

Better than expected. Better than other, lighter competitors...
Assembly requires lining up threaded holes in the interior pipe with unthreaded holes in larger outer pipe and using the hex wrench to screw the pipes together. Typical but a bit fiddly for me 'ol hands. Also black-on-black hard to see. Better would be a slot in the outer pipe and ready-set bolts sticking out from the inner which slide into the slot and are tightened with a strong wingnut. No fiddly tool needed. Same for the upper connection which is slightly but not fatally out of align likely due to the crimping of the inner pipe which inevitable shortens it by a 1/16th inch or so. As the threaded holes were likely set in prior to crimping, this moves them down a tad versus the outer pipe holes which were punched with a certain alignment that is not there after crimping. Net: slight misalignment not fatal but do not expect the holes to be properly centered. Just push real hard on the top pipe to encourage alignment as best you can. Back speaker support bracket adjusts horizontally and vertically. High enough for my Polks and design permits wires from wire posts to pass through unobstructed. This is a very clever, unique, successful design. So we now have 2 very strong and satisfactory speaker posts. Well worth the money. Might spray white Rustoleum on them to blend with the wall and replace speaker fabric with white available right here on AMZN. Then we would have something truly superb. Net: these posts are very good. Buy them, say we.

Perfect Match for My Samsung HW-Q990B Rear Speakers!
I bought the Mounting Dream Black Alloy Steel Speaker Stands specifically for my Samsung HW-Q990B rear speakers, and they’ve exceeded expectations. The stands are not only sleek and sturdy, but they also support the odd mounting needs of the Q990B speakers with a little customization. I used a 1/4"-20 screw from Home Depot, and the fit was spot-on. The adjustable height made it easy to position the speakers at ear level, which noticeably improved the surround sound experience. Cable management was a bit tricky due to the Q990B’s power cable design, but with a couple of extension cords and some creative routing, I got a clean setup that looks great and performs even better.

Good stand
Sturdy stands. Currently holding my Samsung Q-990D surround speakers with no issue. Will also hold the q990f speakers. These are lightweight and top heavy with a speaker. if placed in a high traffic area, is likely easy to knock over.
