Best SONY mic ever... and I've tried a bunch :)
This is the one You want. Really. If You work with the SONY mirorless camera and need a microphone - search no more. The quaility is great, the range is astounding and the ease of use is something out of this planet. Just switch it on, adjust the volume and You're good to go. It also has the jack socket for the external mini-mic (10$ tops), so You don't have to walk around with the bulky unit hanging around - just clip it to Your waist. I've been searching this thing for months in my home country and I wasn't able to buy it anywhere - no idea why. If You need it - just buy it now before it gets out of stock. For this price You won't find anything better.

Good--with limitations
Works fine when it is the only input. The resulting audio is clear and crisp. When using 5.1 surround sound, if the speaker is too close to the camera, an echo is recorded. The device would be improved if it had a cable for a camera's mic jack so it could be used with cameras that don't have the proper shoe.I'd recommend it.

White noise is terrible
I bought this wireless microphone for use with my Sony A6000. I actually wanted a Rode system but the A6000 doesn't have an external mic input. So, my only option was this or the Sony shotgun mic (which also has poor reviews. I did several tests and my conclusion is that it works but... there is a very high level of white noise in the background. A constant shhhhhhhhhhhh. That is very annoying. The built in camera microphone is far better and has no white noise at all. I also shot some clips and uploaded them to my video editor to see if I could adjust the white noise out in post production, which I could but, it distorted my voice to an unacceptable level. I tried different media cards, no difference. I tried playing back in Quicktime Player, no change. I tried rendering the test clips to a high def MPEG4. No change. Also... the blue tooth drops out intermittently even within a few feet. It seems to drop out when the lapel mic isn't pointing directly at the receiver on the camera. I can't have that either. I am very disappointed with Sony on this product and I usually love their stuff. I do not recommend this product to anyone. For myself, I'd planned to use it for my Youtube mechanical tutorial videos but the sound quality with the white noise isn't good enough and the drop out of the mic and receiver is a deal breaker. Don't buy it. It sucks.

hit and miss
It's a hit and miss. This microphone doesn't work on older SONY cameras. It works on newer cameras but depend on how new. It will work 5.1 channels with Sony A6300 or newer, but on my A7MK2 I am only able to use for mono recording. The background humming sound is quiet load, and range is pretty short. You will hear gaps or chops when walk afar. The headphone piece is quite useless as well. When plugging the headphone to the head unit, it records / monitors quiet well. However, if you plug headphone into the transmitter it volume is quite low and it affects and interference with recording as well.Recommend if you need a wireless solution, but not recommend if you are really picky about the recording quality or building quality.

Well thought out!
Nice engineering. Great sound. No need to edit or do voice overs for my usage. I cannot think of anything they left out of this accessory. (Too bad I can't use it as an accessory on everything)I can even clip this into my toddler.

check before you buy. update.7jan 2015.
bought this because sony say it is compatible with a6000 camera. i have tried it but it doesnt link up to my camera. there might be a setting on the camera to make it work but i havnt had time yet to try this out.Since reading another person's review on this Mic I can say that it does work if a6000 is set on video. When I first purchased it I couldn't get it to work. I contacted Sony customer service. Over a couple of months e-mails were sent. Sony ended up telling me that this Mic was not compatible with the a6000. Just shows how much they know about there own products. Will be using it this summer so will update then with better review of how good or bad it is.

Works realty good. Sound is very clear. I use it with Sony lavaliere stereo mike and it makes it much more convenient than other remote mikes I had.
