Kwik Tek Whistle with Lanyard, Red and Black

I needed a whistle to bring whitewater kayaking. I have, fortunately, never needed to use one, but most groups will want/need you to bring one along in case of emergency. This item is cheap, loud, easy to see, and floats. In addition, the lanyard is easy to hook on the loop inside my PFD pocket. I can use this quickly by reaching into the pocket and pulling it out without detaching it from my lifejacket. If it were to somehow get ripped from its hook it will float making it easy to recover. Finally, if it were to get completely lost it is cheap to replace. Highly recommended for anyone who needs a safety whistle.

I feel silly reviewing a whistle. But it was tough finding the perfect one! Wanted to be able to clip to my lifejacket while paddle boarding and not have it hang too much. This is worth it!

I'm happy with this purchase, including the quality and the price. I ordered this prior to a recent trip to Europe, and clipped it on my PacSafe handbag -- I know that pickpockets often prey on tourists at busy attractions in big cities, and I wanted to have a whistle handy in case any of them targeted us or others nearby. Thankfully I never needed to use it, but it was nice having it for peace of mind. The whistle has a very loud, piercing sound; it might be a bit much for hailing a taxi, but it should do the trick if you need to draw attention or deter anyone from hassling you.

Great whistle to attach to a kayak PFD. Ticks away easily to avoid getting in the way, but is easy to deploy if necessary. Sound quality is good, and can be heard down river. Hopefully it will never be used except in testing situations.

This is a great whistle. It works and it's loud. I easily snap it on the front of my life jacket and the lanyard is not so long that it gets in the way even when I'm fishing from my kayak.

This whistle is not heavy duty by any means, but it does work in very wet conditions. The float is super convenient, but makes the whistle difficult to attach to my PFD. I also don't think the clip is going to hold up for very long, though I haven't had any problems with it yet. You can definitely get some volume on the whistle, but you have to put in a little bit of effort. Overall, I'm satisfied with this whistle for the price, but I'm probably going to buy a nicer whistle sooner rather than later.

A must for all life jackets - remember you are almost invisible once you are in the water and more than 50 feet from the boat - All that shows is your head which usually is very close in color to the water - sound is a must for safe and effective rescue

Kwik Tek W-2 Whistle With Lanyard (Red / Black) This whistle is LOUD! My son is on a search and rescue team and needs this item when he makes a "find". It lets other team members know where to find him, so they can help with the rescue. He loved this whistle when I bought it for him. It's a great product. No problems with it. But as a side note, don't feed it to the lawn mower, becuase it is NOT lawn mower proof!! *(Yes, I'm ordering another one now!)
