Performance Automatic PA68404 Transmission Dipstick & Filler Tube

Very easy installation on a 2013 F150 3.7L. Good instructions and I found a YouTube video which showed the installation and was helpful. Everything bolted on easily—no drilling or modifications were required. Getting the old O-ring off the plug to place on the adapter plug was the hardest part. I tried a toothpick as the instructions suggested but ended up using a very small screwdriver instead being careful not to damage it. Disappointing that Ford took the transmission dipstick away. But this part puts it back, making it much easier to check the level and appearance of the transmission fluid and also much easier to add fluid if necessary. I keep my vehicles for a long time and this addition should help help to maintain the truck.

Love everything about this except the price, but I think it will pay for itself quickly as my 2009 f150 6R80 is ready for an oil change. I decided against a dealer flush and I'm going to drop the pan and do the pan fluid exhange method, a proven safe fluid exchange method that many experienced mechanics prefer. Just the fact I can now fill and adjust the fluid level from up top is worth the price to me. Install was quick but as noted by another reviewer, when your ready to push the tube into the transmission adapter, put the new style sealing grommet into the adapter first; the dipstick tube stub will then slide right in easily. Instructions that came with the item were essentially useless.there's not much clearance to run it past the exhaust but just enough, I zip tied mine to the nearbuy AC lines for insurance and I might wrap the area close to the exhaust(+- 2 inches) with a liotherm gasket when I get arount to it. It took me exactly 1 hour to install the dipstick, but I probably spent another hour getting off the old dipstick cap as I live in the salt belt and of course after 9 years it was really stuck on there, I would reccommend soaking it for a couple days with penetrating oil if it doesn't come right off.Nice item.Update 8/14/2021 Just dropped the pan on my F150 transmission , repaired the dreaded bulkhead sleeve and I like to do a three stage transmission oil flush, swapping out about 6 quarts each time. If you install this dipstick tube you can refill and check the oil level from the engine compartment and that alone to me is worth the money spent on it. If you do change your own transmission oil buy the aftermarket pan with a drain plug so you don't have to drop the pan every time.This was a really great purchase, even though the price stings a little.

I had a Transmission Fluid Leak on the Bulkhead Sleeve . So while i had the transmission pan off to fix it I decided to put on a transmission pan with a drain plug and install this dipstick. I wasn't thrilled about the price but to me it was worth it to have peace of mind knowing I can check the fluid with out climbing under the truck.I have only found two dipsticks listed online and the other one is by B&M which I liked because it fully screwed into the transmission on the bottom. But the flaw was the dip stick had to be marked after it was installed unlike this one that already has the markings on it and this one looked nicer. The price was about the same on both of them.the only thing I didn't like on this one is how the tube fits into the transmission. there is a bottom piece that screws into the bottom when the filler hole is but the tube has a rubber piece on it and that is all that holds the tube into the bottom piece.It was a tight fit and I took the rubber piece off and put it in the bottom piece and then put the tube back into the rubber. It also took some effort to get it run so it wasn't on the exhaust but that was me and maybe others wont have that problem. All in all I have had no leaks as of yet and I am happy with this purchase . I don,t like that all these cars and truck manufactures or doing away with transmission dip sticks with their filled for life bull crap. Sooner or later you will have a leak and this could save you from burning up a transmission or being stranded because you cant put transmission fluid in to make it home. I will say what every you decide sometimes you have to pay for peace of mind and this was worth it to me.

I really wanted this to work because the Factory tongue depressor dipstick was a joke. But,This item is well made and the install was fairly straight forward. Exactly what you would expect for the cost. After install the fluid level was exactly inline with the factory one I pull out.The problem I have is they did not make a way to secure the transmission end, just a rubber sleeve. After install I drove approx 15 miles as a test the fluid and test for leaks.  You can see the trans end did not stay in place but had pulled out about halfway. (Pic 1)  No leaks but not real engorging. Especially because I was not driving the truck hard or on rough roads.  I let the truck cool down over night then reconnected the line and made sure there was ample play by adjusting the routing.  (Pic 3) Drove the same route as before pulled back in and found the same results. (Pic 2)I want to believe this will work but if I see the same results on day 3  I am retuning the part. It is too expensive to not allow fo 100% security when driving off-road.

The dipstick tube installed relatively easily without any modification in a 2013 Ford F-150 STX 5.0 V8. Now I can check the transmission fluid without crawling under the truck and messing with the goofy fill plug. I really like the firewall mount that takes advantage of pre-existing hardware.

Just install rubber bushing part way into adapter before installing the tube. Better than B&M has bracket and full level markings.
