Great value....
This was a replacement for a failed GE unit that no longer had parts available. It's perfect. The fit was exact and the installation was easy and quick. The instructions said it might take awhile to start making ice. I had to give it overnight but that was enough and it has been reliable since then. This is a super value.

Great and simple icemaker
I was worried that this icemaker seemed to look a bit more barebones than the one I was replacing, but it works beautifully. Sometimes ice does hang up on the bucket full lever and stop production even though it's not full, but it doesn't happen often so it hasn't been an issue for me. Produces ice at a good rate, overall would buy this again if I needed to.

Good replacement for old GE ice maker
Good replacement with a few issues. I used this to replace the ice maker in my 25 year old GE fridge. It's slightly different from the original but fits and works. The power cable comes with an adapter that works but makes the cable very long so you have to tie it up to keep it out of the way. The ice maker works well with a couple of hiccups. The ice cubes are slightly smaller than those from the OEM ice maker but they actually feed through the dispenser better because of the smaller size. The main issue is the ice maker occasionally jams and stops making ice. This is due to the design of the bar that stops ice production when the ice bin is full. The original was just a metal bar but this has a smaller metal bar with a plastic deflector. I tried reversing the plastic deflector as suggested by others and that helps but doesn't completely eliminate the problem. Another issue is the ice maker bar that stops ice production is smaller than on the OEM ice maker so the bucket overflows with ice before the ice maker stops making ice. Last, the fill funnel was cracked when I received it. I was able to repair it but it is very thin and cheap so I expect if I had ordered a replacement, it likely would have arrived damaged as well so it was easier to fix it.I would buy this ice maker again because you can no longer get the original ice maker that was in the fridge. The GE replacement part is not the same as the original and it has its own problems as demonstrated by the bad reviews. It also costs 4 times as much as this after market part.Overall, this replacement works pretty well but it's not as good as the original ice maker that came with the fridge and I doubt it will last 25 years like the original.

Works perfectly
We recently purchased a used GE refrigerator freezer. It was said condition, but supposedly worked properly. After getting it home and cleaning it up and hooking it up, we found that it would not make ice. Tried everything to troubleshoot it with no luck. So I found this unit to replace it with. Shipping was quick, installation was easy, and it works perfect! Now we have ice.

Easy to install. Works great.
After 20 years the little plastic gear on my GE side-by-side icemaker sheared off. This was bought as a replacement. First, it fit perfectly. It came with enough adapters, cable extensions, water trays that it should fit anything. It took about 15 minutes to install. I had ice not long after that. Now the ice bucket is always full. It's been running for a couple months with no issues. So far, so good.

save yourself a lot of grief & just don't buy this
Bummer, bummer, bummer!!!! This piece of trash is not worth buying. It is far below the level of acceptability that I have come to expect from things sold on amazon. It failed to make ice, right out of the box, no matter how the adjustment screw was changed.....for low output, mid-output or high output amount of ice. When it finally did begrudgingly (after 6+ hours) provide 6 cubes, they were all frozen together & I had to use an ice pick to separate them. You could NOT separate them with just your hands. As I said, no matter the use of the ice volume output screw, it still failed to provide an even minimal amount of ice in a reasonable period of time. Needless to say, I have spent a weekend having to keep an eye on it, either looking for ice., hoping it would perform as advertised.Overnight, the thing just ran water from the water supply & completely filled the ice holder. Plus, I had ice & semi- frozen water all over all the other items in the freezer because of that. I don't know if those items are salvageable or not. At this point, I am too disheartened to even check. I am in no way mechanically inclined (my expertise is in dismantling mechanical things---------not putting them back together) so I had to pay a repairman to install this one when new. Now, I will have to pay a repairman to take this defective one out & install a new model. Believe me, I will NOT be purchasing this manufacturer's model again.......or any other type of product they tout. I'm done with them & their defective product. I considered this a mid-line priced item. It's not even worth mid-line price ($45-$50). Sadly, the buyer reviews for a potential purchaser to make a well-informed decision before buying it are lacking. However, I guess that is on me for not further searching for buyer reviews, maybe online. Plus, there is the fact that I now have to scrounge around for an appropriately-sized box & bubble-wrap to send it back to amazon. My space is limited so I didn't keep empty boxes just sitting around. I trusted amazon to send me a reliable, working product so I wouldn't have to find shipping materials to return this item to them. BIG MISTAKE!!!. I guess I will now have to keep ALL amazon shipping materials on hand & that's a lot of junk to have hanging around . This is a real pain since I have ordered quite a few items from amazon in the past 2 months due to COVID-19. Needless to say, I certanly hope I have a lot better luck with other items I've ordered from amazon in the recent past.

Well. It kind of works....
Nice and easy installation, but...It tends to JAM, A LOT. Basically that paddle on the front is not properly synchronized with the unloading cycle, so the Ice ends up getting stuck right on top of it (not dropping in to the container) and keeping it from lifted, thus fooling the system that the tray is full. So it just sits there and not making any ice until it eventually clears from the vibration of fridge being used, or manually cleared. As a result, it makes ice very, very slow.So one fix that worked for me is to Glue that White Flap to the Metal Wire lifter in the parallel position. Now it functions correctly and keeps cranking the ice out very quick.
