In the past, I have been taking 2000 UI of Vitamin D3. During the COVID epidemic, I got an okay from doc to double that dose. However, exceeding the upper limit of safe intake, 4000 IU (100 micrograms) per day, is not recommended. Larger doses have not been linked with any additional health benefits, but could lead to too much calcium in the blood. My doctor recommended alternating higher (5000 UI) and lower doses (2000 UI) to ensure I don't take too much. Expiration May 26, purchased December 23.
